Was looking for a well built affordable analog multimeter. The unit is very well built, a bit lighter than I expected. The plastic case is a bit thin, but it does the job to protect the multimeter. The unit has a great size, big enough for good reading, but adequate for portability.

I love this meter out of the gate! I even love it more than my fluke to be honest.

Hioki designed only the most basic functions in this analog meter, but it does those functions quite well.

This, so far, has been a quality meter. Was also pleasantly surprise to find it came with aN installed battery to ssupport the Ohms function.

The name Hioki speaks for itself. A top shelf multimeter made in Japan, not China! Well built, easy to read and understand mirrored scale. The probes at the end of the test leads are hard gold plated, and are interchangeable to longer probes if need be. This multimeter is one of my top five recommended.

You need an analog meter now and then in the shop and my old, cheapy one let the ghost go. This one is really solid, and quite accurate! You will definitely not go wrong with this in your arsenal!

The Hioki 3030-10 HiTester analog multimeter is an average-sensing, manual-ranging meter for measuring voltage, resistance, and current in electrical testing applications. The meter comes with a set of detachable test leads. This average-sensing, or average-responding, meter provides accurate readings when measuring linear loads, such as standard induction motors and incandescent lights, where the current or voltage has an undistorted waveform. It is a manual-ranging meter that requires the operator to choose the appropriate operating range for the property being measured. The battery tester feature determines the amount of charge remaining in 1.5V batteries. A thermistor probe (sold separately) can be connected to the meter to take temperature measurements. The meter can also test the functionality of LED lights. A 0.5-amp/250V fuse is installed to help protect the operator from electric shock due to transient voltage. It meets International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) safety standard 61010 and is certified for Category III installations up to 600V, which covers items used with enclosed building circuit installations (such as service panel parts, branch circuits, and fixed installations that are connected directly to a building"s AC power supply). The meter can survive falls of up to 1 meter to a hardwood or concrete floor. It comes with a carrying case for transport and storage.

Multitesters (also called multimeters) are electrical test meters that measure multiple properties of an electrical circuit, such as current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and continuity. Available in handheld or benchtop models, multitesters diagnose electrical problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. A variety of probes, clamps, and leads can be used to connect the meter to a circuit or device. Multitesters display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltages. Safety ratings are based on the International Electrotechnical Commission"s (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.

Hioki manufactures memory recorders, automatic test equipment, and electronic testing and measurement instruments. The company, founded in 1935, is headquartered in Japan and has a U.S. office in Cranbury, NJ.
