With geeni, it sees it as 2 switches. But with Alexa, its just 1 switch for both plugs. Not worth it.

The setup on this outlet is simple which I enjoyed, and I really like that you can separately name and control each outlet! The app the runs this device is very simple to use and has a timer on/off switch which is great for having things not on all day or night and saving on electricity. The only thing I found was a bit of a downside was the range for the Wi-Fi was not very good. I had it plugged in outside to help have some lighting on a timer and the device connected while inside, but when I went outside and set it up it wouldn’t connect to the WiFi in the house.

The Bad: -- Poor Wifi Range: I wanted to use the Smart Plug to control an outdoor water feature so the Smart Plug needs to be plugged into an outlet outside and near the ground. In the house it connected to the WiFi but when moved outside and 18 above the ground at the outlet it would not connect. -- Timer wont work when out of WiFi Range: Even if you set up the timer schedule when the unit is in WiFi range, the timer will not work if you move the smart switch out of WiFi range. -- Only 2.4G WiFi: The Smart Plug ONLY works with 2.4G networks. The Good: -- App Loads Fine: The app loaded and ran fine on my Galaxy S20 phone using a 2.4G network with a Netgear R8500 router and found the Smart Plug. -- Once connected can works if phone on 5G WiFi: But once connected at 2.4G, from your phone you can connect to a 5G network that is on the same subnet and it will still control the Smart Switch. I mention this because many people would prefer to keep their phone on 5G which this system will allow once its connected at 2.4G. -- Easy initial install: The app found the device on the first try very quickly and it was up and running -- Works well when WiFi connected: I put a small load on the unit and was able to successfully turn on and off each output individually. -- Can name individual outputs: The app has a nice feature to be able to name each of the outputs. -- App can override: The app will override the physical switch on the Smart Switch or in other words, if the switch is pushed off it can be turned back on using the app. -- The app has a timer to turn on/off the Smart Switch at a time and you can set up a complex on off schedule. -- Its rated for 15A resistive: Not good or bad just something to be aware of. Most of the house circuits are rated at 15A but the Smart Switch is rated for resistive. This means an inductive load like a motor which will draw a lot of surge current when first turned on will exceed the limits of the Smart Switch and I assume cause the switch to pop off due to its claimed protective circuitry -- Attached waterproofing plugs: The waterproofing plugs are permanently attached so they will never get lost . I bought this for holiday lights and ended up not needing to use it, so its taken me forever to review. But, Im so glad I did! This was VERY easy to set up and linked with both Google Assistant and Alexa seamlessly. Im sorry I didnt set it up sooner. I started trying to connect it to the Geeni app on my own and it was taking a while, then I followed the instruction booklet and it literally connected in three seconds... Read the instructions people. Also, my plug is set up fairly close to my router, so that may effect how quickly it connected and how well its been staying connected. It has both schedule and timer functions. So, you can set it to turn an outlet on and off at set times and make it recurring (like youd do with holiday lights) or just a one-time thing. Additionally, you can set a timer so that the outlet turns off after a certain amount of time. It was very easy to link to both Google & Alexa and the voice commands worked perfectly on both platforms with basically no additional work. Of course, youll probably want to rename them from Switch 1 and Switch 2, but you dont have to... I would definitely get a smart power device from iHome again. I understand it doesnt work with the iHome app and that older iHome devices dont work with the Geeni app... But, this is my first iHome device, so that hasnt caused any issues for me.

IHome was great for automating some of my Christmas lights. I scheduled the lights to turn on at four and turn off at 10 PM and it does it on a dime very easily. At first it was a bit difficult to sync the plug in the app but there was some connectivity issues but it did after a couple of tries. The Geeni app is very intuitive and very easy to use. It was very easy to find the Geeni Alexa skill and it worked flawlessly. I can give voice commands to Alexa and she’ll turn them on and off whenever I want but the scheduling works on top of that. So this was great. This is located on my deck and I live close to Seattle so it’s always raining and I haven’t run into any issues yet.

I literally had this smart outlet up and running within about 10 minutes of opening the box. The box came a bit mangled (Amazon packaging problem...not a product problem) but because the plug was well secured in plastic molding, it was not damaged by the smashing of the exterior box. I plugged it in, downloaded the Geeni app, logged into Geeni with my google account, the device was immediately located by the app, I renamed the device, then named the plug, and then I was able to push a single button within the app to link it to my Google Home account. Voila! I then attached my device (using for my outdoor patio lights) and immediately I was able to use the Google Home Assistant to turn them on/off. I was also able to turn them on/off through the Google Home app. Not sure I will ever even use the Geeni app since it is now integrated so well in the Google Home app. My only wish is that it had its own hardware remote control. Sometimes we are not within earshot of the google devices and may not have the phone handy. Would be nice to simply have a physical remote control mounted outside on the patio for easy use. But otherwise, a simple, easy to install and integrate, product.
