24-11-2024I’m running 2 of these in a storage pool for a total of 2 Tbs. Are they the fastest drive on the market? No but they work well enough for the average person. Sustained writes tend to bog the controller down but if you’re coming from a normal sata ssd, you’ll be very pleased. My first solid state drive was an intel 160gb sata II back in 2008 and it’s still running. I have no reason to believe that these drives will outlive the system they are installed in.

> 3 dayI purchased this 2 TB drive with the primary purpose of turning it into a speedy external storage drive . I chose Intel because it is a brand that I trust for reliability. It pairs very well with the Sabrent USB 3.1 external enclosure, which is also sold on Amazon for about 50 USD, as at the time of writing . To create a speedy external 2 TB drive combo at USD 250 in total is a fantastic deal. Footnote: I purchased this drive at the end of May 2019 from. Amazon directly . The drive is manufactured in Taiwan with a Manufacturing date of April 2019. There were some reports of other buyers receiving opened boxes with broken seals, I am glad to report that my purchase was completely brand new and unopened.

> 3 dayWell I upgraded, or tried to, upgrade from a standard 512gb SSD to this and once I figured out that my brand new motherboard required you to disable some SATA ports, I got it to work. Tested the speeds and it was pretty impressive reading and acceptable writing. Yes there is a cost for lower priced SSDs and write speeds can supper under some heavy loads. The problem came up when I tried to transfer over 400gb of data from the old SSD to this one. It got about two thirds of the way and then stopped working. When I touched to SSD it almost burned my finger. The combination of heavy use and the small surface area of the unit makes this, and to be fair most all M.2 SSDs run hot... VERY hot which I have read can be normal. In my case the unit stopped working and I had to ship it back. Had I to do it over again I would add a small heat sink on it to help dissipate the heat. Yes it runs that hot. I did not take a temperature reading because it stopped working but if something gets so hot that it can burn your skin, well in my book, no matter the supposed design, it runs too hot. They sell cheap M.2 heat sinks on Amazon, just search for one. I highly recommend it for this and all M.2 SSDs if you have the room.

> 3 dayVery satisfied with this product and the benchmarks one sees on Youtube are spot on. As with any Intel product, compatibility wasnt even a question. Also, the support pages for this on their website is the whole reason to buy this name brand but if that isnt enough the price point was lower than the competition. And personally, I dont even like them as a company because they are too arrogant. LOL But they make a great product and this one shows.

Greater than one weekI was a little concerned after ordering that the physical dimensions (length) was going to be wrong for my laptop (the listing title states 2281 which corresponds with 81mm as opposed to 80mm.. but the title also says 1.0TB M.2 80mm), but it ends up that it is 80mm, so the title should actually be 2280 instead of 2281. Anyway, its all good and its working well. I did have to purchase the Lenovo caddy adpater and cable because my T480 came with an older SATA HDD drive. I did this on purpose when configuring the laptop, planning on doing this upgrade myself, but I didnt realize that I would need to purchase the adapters (which added an extra $50 to the upgrade). Anyway, if youre a little concerned about the length as I was, rest assured that it is 80mm and not 81mm.

> 3 dayI bought the 2 TB model and it runs right at advertised reads and writes- I used crystaldiskmark to check. It only took about 5 minutes total to physically install, and maybe another 5 minutes under hardware manager to format. Seems to run fine and it was cheaper than the 512 GB 970 evo I bought last year.... I wonder how cheap NVME SSDs might get here with the glut of flash memory? I would recommend for fast cheap gaming storage.

> 3 daySilent, Quick, easy to install, runs cool. So far so good. I meant to purchase the Intel 665P but the sale limit of 2 per customer meant I had to go elsewhere and elsewhere did not have the sale. After reading the reviews I am glad I went with Intel, and would do it again. My build included 2 660P and 2 665P (all 2 TB each) - I cannot tell the difference operationally.

> 3 dayGot this because I didnt have a NVME drive already. My current Samsung 840 EVO (sata) is still great and running just fine, but I wanted something faster and this little drive IS quite a bit faster! Granted there are faster enthusiast NVME drives out there but they also cost enthusiast prices. This should last a while and seems to load my games even faster so yes, it can be used for gaming. The naysayers will point out that once the memory cache fills up you lose performance but all the tests Ive read show this happening on huge file transfers (80GB+), not during gaming. And Ive never run into that before personally so its golden for me and my uses.

> 3 dayI purchased this for my wife to increase her SSD storage and purchased it specifically because it was $194 for 2TBs. I wish I would have purchased two. The price was very good and the drive works flawlessly. It is not as fast as an NVME Samsung drive but you know that when you purchase it. For storage, it doesnt matter and has worked great. I have nothing but good things to say about it and would highly recommend it if you can get it at a good price.
