After ten years or so, my Johnson 750 Pitch and Angle Locator has become somewhat unusable after the piece of white cardboard at the back of the meter becomes warped and impedes the motion of the needle that is supposed to be free-moving to indicate the pitch or angle. So there is now about a quarter of the tool that is unusable because the needle gets stopped by the warped white cardboard positioned at the back on the inside of the instrument. Hence the fewer number of stars on accuracy. It was good the first few years before the warp developed. If the manufacturer is reading, consider plastic, glass, to metal background instead of cardboard background so it will not warp.

An Incredible POS. Three pieces of cheesy plastic with a little mechanical dial, no flotation, no nada. I set it down on the bench and the little lever snapped off behind the clear plastic cover. Not worth sending back, they will just throw it away in any case.

Although not as heavy duty as I would have liked, it is easy to read and accurate. So I am happy that I bought it. No more guessamating for me!

Its ok but there are better. for one it is not magnetic so it limits options of where you can mount it. Also I use it to measure the pitch of roofs and it doesnt have a rough surface so it slides off of roofs. If you can always keep a hand on it then buy it buy mainly my main complaint is just that the red measuring indicator gets stuck and so i have to jiggle it to get it to calculate the proper pitch.

I should have gone a little more high tech on this purchase. The newer laser levelers have come a long way and maybe would have been a better option for me. This particular one is accurate but the numbers are hard to read and of course the range is limited to what is on the dial, and you have to read it on the dial itself. The laser ones shoot the pointer out to whever you want - even far away - so that can be a huge convenience especially if you are working with someone else who is doing the hammering.

As a home inspector, its not a tool I use very often, but when you have a roof without the proper slope it makes a great self explanatory picture for your home inspection report.
