Kasa Smart Plug Mini, Smart Home Wi-Fi Outlet Works with Alexa & Google Home, Wi-Fi Simple Setup, No Hub Required – A Certified for Humans Device (HS105)

The device is working, is fairly easy to setup, and the app is decent. However, I need to emphasize that the whole Kasa app/cloud comes with a big privacy caveat. First of all, the app needs your location data in order for it to setup a new device, ie. a new smart plug. You can’t get pass it, though it allows you to disable location access after setup. This is completely unnecessary. Second, it stores your WiFi password in the app and possibly online. This does make setting up easier, but again, unnecessary. Third, there’s no way for you to tell TPLink to delete these kinds of sensitive data without also deleting your account. So, be aware of these before you make the purchase.

Great smart plug. I use mine for a grow light, which I have turn on and off at set times. Consider getting an in-wall smart outlet instead because they look better. I debated between the two for a while but ultimately chose this because I wanted to be able move the plug around the house.

Bought an Amazon plug first and had all kinds of problems connecting it so returned and thought to try this cheaper one and to my surprise it works better than all of my other smart home plugs and bulbs put together. Have never had a problem with it staying connected or having to change anything. Works like a champ so much so that planning on changing out all my other smart plugs for these. Save your money on buying those overpriced name brands... sorry Amazon, this one works great for half the price.

This outlet was easy to setup and great with alexa. Had no problems yet it connects every time to turn lights on and off. Cost a little more the the cheaper one i bought but work a lot better.

Love it. Works like 99% well. Very rarely i gotta unplug it and replyg it in to reset it due to it not being responcive to alexa. Its so rare tho its not exactly a deal breaker. I wouldnt trade it.

Its really a fairly decent product, but they are a PITA to install. Totally not really intuitive. Supposed to be easy, but clearly not designed for average people. Im guessing engineers decided what easy should look like. So vexing. Terribly bulky packaging.
