By matching the voltages youll get as advertised speeds. 1.2v for 1.2v motherboards. 1.3v for 1.3v motherboards. The only way youll get as advertised speeds with lets say 1.35v ram with a 1.2v motherboard is if you have XMP. If your laptop is overclockable.
