Many clamp meters provide AC amp readings, but in solar proects you also need DC amp reading. This meter does it all. Solidly built, Klein quality, with all the settings needed for AC and DC projects. Recommended!

This meter was able to capture starting amps for a 4 ton AC compressor. Manually set amp range and then MAX button. The three readings I took varied about 7%, but satisfied my needs.

It came quick and is as advertised

I bought this meter specifically for the amp clamp feature and unfortunately the meter I received did not have a functioning amp clamp. I have seen a couple other reviews about the amp clamp giving inaccurate readings and not working at all. Also if you are like me and wait a few months before trying the amp clamp feature, good luck dealing with Klein Tools’ warranty service which takes 2-4 weeks just to respond to you after you submit a warranty request. Overall the rest of the meter works fine but the main feature is broken so I am giving it a very low rating. If I could go back I would have just spent the extra money and gone with a Fluke.

I really wanted to like the CL800. It has all the features that I need like AC and DC amps, capacitance, etc., features most meters in this price range do not have. I own two of these meters now and both have the exact same flaws. The first flaw which is mostly a nuisance is that the meters are easily turned on by accident even when inside the protective case. Not a huge issue since they turn off automatically after a period of time to save the batteries. The second more serious flaw is that if the leads wiggle out even the slightest, the meter will not read properly. There have been several times my meter showed 0 volts but the line was actually hot. After checking the leads, I find they have wiggled out slightly (1/32 -1/16 or less). I am constantly pushing the lead plugs in because I am paranoid about it. I dont like a meter I cant trust and I have 2 of them. Both my CL800 meters do the exact same thing. Since they are both just slightly over 2 years old, Klein wont help. This isnt the first disappointment I have had with Klein diagnostic tools. They seem to last just about as long as the warranty period. I own quite a few Klein tools but I think we are done.

This is a specialized tool. I needed it for DC amperage measurements and it does the just fine as well is other functions it is designed for. Happy with purchase.

Great product at an amazing price. My only complaints are that 1.) the temperature probe is junk. Not even a month old it began to fail to read correctly. Luckily, I had extras from older meters I have long since replaced that fit into the same slot. 2.) the lead holes on the bottom of the meter seem to wear out much quicker than other, more expensive brands. If you baby them, theyll probably last a year. But I cant complain too much because I could buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of a field piece or fluke. Great bargain for the cost. Youre getting more than what you pay for.

well as with all my klein tools i sure i would love this one to but i got send it back ordered the cl 800 by mistake wanted cl2300 but this meter is great and will do the job without any question i just need non contact diode testing but its very close to fluke quality without the fluke price great to start any electrical / technical career you wont be dissapointed

Great product. The only complaint is that I have to zero the DC current measurement every time I measure... Not sure if this is normal for a clamp... Other than that, works like a charm.
