Klein Tools CL800 Digital Clamp Meter, Autoranging TRMS, AC/DC Volt/Current, LoZ, Continuity, Frequency, Capacitance, NCVT, Temp, More 1000V

I didnt use my CL800 for several months after I received it, and when I went to use it, a solid tone occurs when I put it in the Voltage selection. I can clear the tone by changing to a different option, but as soon as I touch a button the tone starts again. In the past month, Ive contacted Klein Tools tech support 5 times to remedy the problem. Each time I was promised someone was going to call me back, and that never happened until today. Chuck, the tech support guy for the CL800 continuously talked over me and tried to explain the concept of Amazon vendors, which I needed no explanation of. He was very condescending and probably has no business communicating with the general public. He tried to blame the problem on me even though I explained it was like this out of the box. Finally, he had Kathy (Cathy?) call me back from customer service. She informed me that Amazon is not an authorized vendor for the their products, but they stand behind their products, so they would do me a favor and honor the warranty with my Amazon invoice. Now, Ive got to ship the tool (at my expense) back to the company, and at some point (she couldnt provide an estimate of how long), theyll send a new meter to back to me at no charge. Ive bought several Klein products in the past, but Ive never had to deal with their tech/customer support. After the experience Ive had with this company, Ill never buy another one of their products again.

Best bang for your buck if you need a multi meter that does DC amps.

Very much like this meter. The audible continuity test is awesome. I knew it would come in handy, but didnt realize how much. Contractor called me and said one of my rental units had no heat. After several minutes of troubleshooting I was able to determine the thermostat wasnt working. So I tested the thermostat wire for continuity which I knew to be good. Sure enough no continuity. Turns out the contractor cut the thermostat wire. If you get this meter I cant stress enough to get the magnetic mount for the back. When you are working on furnaces or electric panels having that feature is fantastic. Also the back lighting on this meter is great. The only feature I wish it had was the ability to rotate the meter screen. Also the leads that come with it are too short in my mind, but I already had a favorite set of leads from my last meter that work good. Overall a great meter and a life saver when troubleshooting.

Work as industrial electrician, Klein does great with day to day troubleshooting of contacts relays, starters, etc. I have a fluke for megging

This meter was able to capture starting amps for a 4 ton AC compressor. Manually set amp range and then MAX button. The three readings I took varied about 7%, but satisfied my needs.

Im not the typical reviewer that buys an expensive meter to test a single outlet and put it away for a few years. I work in apartment maintenance so I need a rugged tester thats versatile without blowing my pockets out. I need to be able to safely test indoor voltages to HVAC to high voltage and low voltage.

This is a very nice meter very stable, I like the fact that I has the Hertz setting. Easy-to-use very well made a great meter for the price
