I have had pen testers in the past that straight up tell you the wire is dead and you end up arch welding your side cutters. This one has not failed me yet and is really sensitive so you dont have to make perfect contact with the wire you are testing to get it to read hot. Small life saver always in my tool belt.

This item is well worth having in your tool box. The electrical tester takes the guesswork out of whether a circuit is really off or not.

Im not in anyway an electrician, but voltage tester is a breeze to use. Ive been upgrading all my light switches to smart switches. My home is older so the wiring can be a bit confusing but this tester never failed in helping me find the hot wires and the builtin light really helps. I like it.

I had to return the one I purchased due to rattling tip and non stop false positives.

it beeps and the light turns red even if the line has less than 1 volt, leading to false diagnostic decision. it needs a sensitivity dial. When it beeps it does not necessary mean the wire is hot!! if i have to pull out the voltmeter to verify its signal, Ill just use the voltmeter from the start. waste of money as it is and Im outside of the return window because I dot use it everyday

Should have bought one of these years ago. This model lives up to its high ratings. It arrived a day early and works great. Indispensable for any DIYer project involving electricity.

This tool is a bigger upgrade than the previous version. Having a water tight battery cap and the addition of a flash light is cool. But the big issue I still have with these is that the buttons are always accidentally pressed because of there location. If the button was above the clip, then they wouldnt get pressed if I had it clipped to a tool belt or in a pant pocket. So I often will find it magically on. Could potentially waist battery and not work when I need it most.
