Klein Tools VDV501-852 Cable Tester with Remote, VDV Scout Pro 3 Test Kit Locates and Tests Voice, Data and Video Cables

Was able to troubleshoot and find an issue with cat5e that my normal pinout tester didnt catch since the pin out was correct but there was an issue with the cable itself.

This tool has allowed me to validate and document wiring very easily!

I have had two Klein Cat testers. Both developed issues with the remote. The contacts wear in the remote and you start getting false open readings in 12 or 78. Klein does not repair OR does not even sell replacement remotes, I was told I had to buy a whole new tester. Buying a second one, shame on me. The remote went bad AGAIN. I bought a Fluke this time.

It is Klein! You can not go wrong. You pay for what you get, and I love the brand.

This does not only test your ethernet cable it also tells you the length. I use HDMI extenders, this helps me to set EQ settings. Great product!

This kit is great! Tester is super easy to use, The remote locators are SUPER helpful and can save a lot of time if you need to trace multiple runs at once. The only feature that I had trouble with occasionally is the hub link feature, but you wont likely use that very often anyway.

Inexpensive but stacks up well against other meters with similar feature sets that cost much more. I use this pretty much every day and it hasnt let me down yet.

For the first time in 25 years, I had to bring up an already wired network in an existing building. Wire pulling would be too expensive, we had to use the existing 16 year old Cat5, which had never been connected at the network closet.

Great product, however I wish it were obvious the difference between the 851 and the 852 model. The 852 has POE testing capabilities. This one does not. I guess that’s why this one is sold so much cheaper (and without a kit and case). Anyway, for everything else, it’s GREAT. just wish I had the capability to do Poe.
