This tool has saved me so much time testing ethernet and tracing lines. This is the 3rd tool I have bought over the years and it far exceeds the other brands in terms of functionality and accuracy.

This version Amazon is selling had a defect in this firmware. It will not pass cat 6 SHIELDED cable for any reason. Other cables it’s works fine but not CAT 6 SHIELDED CABLE For what ever reason. I had to call Klein tools directly and they confirmed, that this tester had the defect. I had to pay to ship the device back to them for a replacement. Very inconvenient. We verified that cable was good with another high end tester. We ordered this one to have a backup on this project. Buyer beware.

Ive been having intermittent Ethernet issues for a couple years. Sometimes multiple times in a day, sometimes not for a couple weeks.

This unit looks like it has already been used. It has damaged connectors

All my 4 rooms are connected through cat 6 cables. Usually when things dont work either I crimp RJ45s or change the cable. Just a while ago one of my rooms went dark (No Internet or Lan Connection). With the Klein Scout Pro 3 The test result stated that the pairs 1&2 were faulty. So instead of paying a lot of money to change the cable I just switched the pairs and the room is alive again.

I dont like that the PoE testing version and the one that doesnt test PoE have the same name - Scout Pro 3. Only the last digit is different (851 vs 852) The main description of each doesnt mention PoE either - its down in the description.

It is Klein! You can not go wrong. You pay for what you get, and I love the brand.

Everything works great. Remote cable finders are great if youre looking for multiple cables at once. My main issue is that while its also a tone generator, it doesnt include a probe. Not even the biggest kit includes one (even though the case has a slot for one), which means you have to buy it separately for $40!

Big display with backlight. Quick response. ID in the handle 1 and in the set also start from 1, why not from 2.
