Kobo Libra 2 SleepCover Case | Black | Sleep/Wake Technology | Built-in 2-Way Stand | Vegan Leather | Compatible with 7” Kobo Libra 2 eReader

I love the design, it feels good in the hand, but the cover material is simply not durable. You cannot put this case in a backpack and not expect some tears in the very thing fabric. Ive purchased four of these cases now and its the same issue every time.

I had my eye on this case for a while but kept putting off to purchase it. A recent flight tipped me over the edge as I considered how convenient it would be to not have to hold the Libra 2 during the whole flight. The quality of this case is quite nice. The materials feel great. The fact that it can act as a stand in both portrait and landscape mode is fantastic. I cant wait to use it on my next flight!

I was skeptical about this case given its price. But when it arrived and I put it on the Libra 2… this thing is beautiful. The “vegan leather” (whatever that is) was manufactured with this odd texture that actually looks really good and adds some realism to the cover. The color is a nice warm blood orange-y red. Not the gaudy radioactive red you get from cheap knockoffs. After trying the Kindle cases as well, where even the official Amazon-made ones are now cheap and low-qualify, this is easily the most worth-it case on the market for an e-reader. Screen protection, a stand, and a grip (though the Libra 2 takes care of that on its own with its nice ergonomic design). The golden 3. This case has all of them and looks and feels great. I didn’t think I’d like it but now I love it. Looks especially good with a White Libra 2. The black one wouldn’t be nearly as well-matched with the color of these cases (or to be honest, any case; the White is always better looking).

I purchased an inexpensive look-alike sleep cover for my new Libra 2. I liked it okay, but I found myself wondering if the official one would be any better. If you are wondering the same thing, I can say yes, it is a nicer quality item. The cover looks and feels much nicer, less plasticky. The front of the cover on the official version seems more solid, and stiffer, so less likely to bend in the wrong direction when you use the stand function. Im happy with the official cover and am glad I purchased it. That said, the third-party cover I bought was good enough quality and perfectly functional. It also had plastic edging that encased more of the reader, whereas the official version leaves one edge exposed. Several other reviews called the official cover out for being overpriced. Based on the quality of the cover, I agree. I think it should be closer to $30 than to $40, but the price also wasnt a dealbreaker for me. Im happier with the official cover, but I wouldnt say there was anything wrong with third-party cover. It just felt cheaper to me. But it was cheaper, by about $25! It just depends on what the quality factor is worth to you.

Differences between the $39 SleepCover and the $29 Basic SleepCover (this case) that aren’t mentioned in the advertising: SleepCover: - Faux leather wraps all the way around the case - The right edge and corners of the device are uncovered Basic SleepCover: - Faux leather on the front, textured plastic on the back - All edges and corners of the device are covered except for the USB-C port The $39 SleepCover’s uncovered edge makes the device more comfortable to hold and easier to remove from the case. The score lines that enable the cover to be folded into a stand also make it easier to open and close. The $29 Basic SleepCover offers more protection due to all edges and corners being covered by the case.

...maybe I should work out more to lift it during marathon reading. Im so spoiled no longer having to hold and position heavy books! LoL. This cover makes it easier to hold the Kobo 2. The Kobo 2 itself is light and easier to slip in my hands. A grippier material to the cover would be nice. Its well made. The built in folding stand works but I never use it. Pops the Kobo 2 out of sleep mode nicely. I would pay more for a nicer, lighter, easier to hold cover. There arent a lot of cover choices this ereader (compared to the Kindle) but this will do fine in the short term.

Initial impressions: feels marginally better material than the ~$15 alternatives. Most notably the edge of the cover is smooth and rounded and not a flat cut which is unpleasant to open with a thumb. Vegan leather is decently soft. Magnets in back of case are slightly noticeable from the uneven surface. Obviously an extremely picky complaint but I would hope they would do better for $40 for 5 1/5 ounces of mixed plastic.

The folding pinch stand is how all cases should work. It folds behind the reader flat, which does not hinder one handed holding.

I would probably buy again if a need arises, but overall satisfied with it. Only downside is the price

Which is not to say it is a well made product....the stand design is brilliant, but production is flimsy. You might as well buy it, I sent back three others that were knock-offs and am stuck with the best. Such as it is.
