Dumbest thing Ive seen on a battery operated device. No way to change batteries unless you damage to helmet. The batteries are encased in the foam behind the in off switch. To change them you have to cut into the foam in the inner back side. Cut a chunk out and hope you dont damage anything. Replace them, then glue the chunk back on. This has to decrease the protection for your child. Doesnt make sense, everything else is great.

Nice helmet and a great value. My 12 year old son got this for Christmas and actually wants to wear his helmet now. I know there is some difference in the quality of helmets, but the most important thing is that they actually wear them. I am just happy that this hasnt just ended up on the floor in the garage and my son puts this on. It gives me peace of mind knowing that if he hits a curb and falls off his bike that his head will be better protected because he wears his helmet.

This Radical helmet caught my eye because of the fins that light up.... I have an electric scooter that I ride up/down & around the length of our drive, it has a slight incline/decline with a circle.... & I can hit around 18 - 19 MPH by the time I get to the bottom & circle around..... & I know from experience [learned the hard way] that accidents can & do happen.... yeah I have taken a few diggers & got lucky & escaped without injury.... because I did not land on my head :) So.... there is a need for as helmet.... but I have resisted that thought until now.... because this helmet is just plain FUN to wear! lol I mean cmon look at it.... its funny, & the operative word in funny is FUN Anyways.... I got lucky? & this helmet actually fits my pea brain!! WT? I guess my development got arrested after 8 years old …. oh well what are you gonna do? ….ride with it I guess :) So Lets ride! OK why only 4 stars? - well despite the fact that I like the helmet & it fits me well.... I do have an issue with the lights....as IMO the lights are a positive safety factor as they improve visibility of the rider/helmet wearer at night.... which is a GOOD thing. The instructions that come with it have a goofy warning about the lights being a potential safety issue because they can be a distraction!?!? what? Anyways - they decided that the lights pose a potential negative safety factor to them, & that battery power needs to be conserved.... soooooo they compromised & made it so that the fins light up for about 30 seconds then go out... unil you shake or tilt the helmet - then the fins light back up. Truth is.... when you are wearing it.... you have no way of knowing whether it is lit up or not, & because of the nature of the single press button on off set up.... you cannot just reach back & tell one way or another by feel alone.... IMO they should have A - designed it so that it has two press buttons, one for on & one for off directly below it.... AND.... they should have designed the helmet so it has a dedicated battery compartment that you can access & replace the batteries when needed, as it is right now.... when the battery dies - so does the fun! Thats right - apparently there is a watch type battery secreted in the helmet somewhere, & once it is drained the helmet will not light up anymore. So... the fun is for a limited time only I suppose it might be possible to poke around in the helmet, find where the battery is & replace it & keep the party rolling....I guess I will find out one way or another when the battery fails …. Even though I find the whole light issue dissapointing ..... I still like it & think this lighted helmet show is worth the price of admission. I also think the helmet would definately provide good protection to your head in a fall.... And, the helmet is actually on the side of things lightweight & is pretty comfortable. All in all.... the Krash Mohawk Helmet is a pretty good safety helmet & alot of fun for a little $$ 4 Stars - Recommended to riders of all ages :)

I get that since theres no access hatch or ability to change the battery, that the light times out after 30 seconds, but I dont like that feature. So my kid is gonna have to reach up every 30 seconds to turn it back on? Doesnt seem particularly safe considering its a bike helmet MEANT FOR SAFETY

Nice looking helmet. Safety is number 1 concern for me and this helmet looks sturdy enough to get the job done in case of any accidental falls. Plus my son gets compliments on his helmet everywhere he goes.
