These are my absolute favorite watercolors. I find myself reaching for these over and over. Vibrant colors! I wish there were more colors in this pallette!

Was very excited to get this since my teacher said the colors were beautiful. I read the reviews and was hesitant because of the feedback wherein they said the paints were cracked, etc. Am happy bec it flew all the way across some continents and yet arrived intact. All 36 of them. Thank you, Amazon.

So, I have ordered quite a bit of Art/Painting supplies through Amazon, included are many of the top Watercolor brands, either in sets, or as individual tubes. I have also been painting, in one form or another for many years and would classify myself as someone with more than a modest amount of knowledge on most media. Typically, when a set of watercolors is on par, or even better than expected, I would not leave any opinion, as usually others have already done so. So when I read the reviews, and saw this set came from Japan, even watched a few youtube videos, I expected them to be on par, if not better than a lot of the other decent Watercolors out there. Sadly, that is not the case. Never mind the shallow pans, the quality of these watercolors is just not there. They are very chalky upon drying, fade much more than most other sets, hard to build up any color, and all this, on quality Winsor and Newton hot press 140lb. all cotton paper. I received a refund with which I will most likely purchase a quality set, but these will either go to a child, or in the trash. Spend a little more on something which will reflect and reward your creative efforts. This set is not that item!!!

Mine arrived today and theyre *beautiful*. All the pans are perfect and you can really see the attention to detail as everything is hand-made with this item. Yes, theres no english translations from the native Japanese, but its quite easy to look up the colours and make one yourself. If youre not fussed about such things, theres a colour watch on the underside of the top lid that you can use as a reference when painting. Beautiful product and definitely the quality I expect from Kuratake Zig, and all Japanese hand crafted products. :)
