Kwikset Halifax, Door Handle Lever Passage Door for Hall and Closet with Microban, Square Rose in Matte Black

This is Kwikset Halifax but not the same as the similar looking Kwikset Halifax from Home Depot. They both look quite similar on the exterior. However, the latch does not have sufficient movement to engage the locking hole properly. See picture. The one on top is the one I got from Hime Depot. The one on the bottom is the one from Amazon. They are different model numbers. The mechanism is not made the same. You can see how much less area is available on the Amazon one to engage. It works, but hold just on the outer 20% or so of the latch. As a customer, I see Kwikset Halifax privacy lock in Home Depot. It works great. I love it. I need a second one and I also see Kwikset Halifax privacy lock on Amazon. I think, and so would you, that the two products are the same because they looks the same externally. But they are not. Amazon needs to sell these products with model number CLEARLY displayed to avoid such confusion. I have no idea how this product has such high review rating with such a fundamental design flaw.

The knob made a huge difference but the issue is it won’t latch nor lock, I’m hopeful and I hope it works out

Very easy installation

It was easy to install, appears to be quite sturdy. I found to be some industrial looking, in hindsight I would have ordered a different style.

We built our house 5 years ago. A few weeks back our door lock stopped working. I had to literally cut it off with a pair of blot cutters. Right out of the box I could tell the quality of the Kwickset. I followed the instructions and had it installed in 10 minutes and I am not a real handy guy. Its is very quiet and smooth. Much better than the lock we had.

This is everything you want in a door handle. Easy to install and sturdy. A true upgrade from the existing doorknobs that were in the home we purchased.

No matter how many adjustments I make the base wont sit square. From what I can tell one of the inner pins is off and squaring is basically impossible. Sadly I bought several months ago and just go around to installing, so I can’t return it. If you end up getting a handle that’s manufactured well, it is super nice and feels substantial!
