These are used when re-pinning a lock to keep the pins from popping out when you remove the core. These are NOT padlock shims that are used on padlocks to slide around the shackle and cause a spring loaded shackle retaining mechanism to retract thereby opening the padlock, aka shimming a padlock. As others have noticed, these are too thin for padlock shimming and are the wrong shape and size. That being said, some padlocks have very little clearance around the shackle and could possibly be shimmed by using this very thin material if cut to a proper size to fit. It is not their intended purpose and one shouldnt review them negatively for being too thin as a padlock shim as this isnt their intended purpose. Ive been trying to practice with these on a simple cheap masterlock with no anti-shim guards and already went through 4 of these trying. theyre nice and thin yes, but they have no strength and thats what you need to push away the bearing. After a little use as well, once they lose a little shape they basically turn to tin foil.

Really works, already rekey around 15 locks using only one.

They work as advertised.

Shims are shims, and these were no different. They do the job. Just dont be surprised when you open the container that they come in, and find only 5 shims. They are thin, and they stick together.
