> 24 hourThis drive stopped working after about six weeks. It stopped mounting. The light on the drive would come on, but nothing else would happen. No internal noise. The drive didn’t and doesn’t appear in the Finder, Disk Utilities, DiskWarrior, TechTools or even in Terminal on my Mac. It’s sat on my desk since I bought it. No drops, no water, nothing. Other USB devices work just fine. I contacted the manufacturer, Seagate (LaCie is now owned by them). The drive was under warranty and could be replaced by them. They also said, Data recovery is not covered under the warranty. They gave me a link on the Seagate website (Seagate also runs their included 2 year DataRescue plan). I clicked that link. Heres what that site says: US $49.00 Engagement Fee & US $650.00 Recovery Fee with return media ENGAGEMENT FEE DUE NOW (NON REFUNDABLE) FINAL PRICE MAY INCLUDE LOCAL TAXES RECOVERY FEE AND OTHER ADDED OPTIONS WILL BE DEDUCTED AUTOMATICALLY UPON SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY FINAL PRICE MAY INCLUDE LOCAL TAXES Im not in the position to lend Seagate almost $700 to rescue the data from a drive that cost under $200. Yes, I might get some of that back, but the drive lasted only about SIX WEEKS. Undaunted, I got the box out of the closet and found the brochure about the Data Rescue plan. It also has a link. That website has lots of information about the plan and purchasing the plan. Theres nothing about actually using the plan. UPDATE: After discussions with Amazon, the vendor and Seagate, they didnt charge me the $699 or the $49. They told me that they would recover the disk under the included Data Rescue plan. So, I sent them my disk to be recovered. The sent me back a BLANK DISK. When I asked Seagate what was going on, they told me that my original disk was still being recovered. Um... I really wish that theyd told me that. Getting a blank disk with no note attached that explained things led me to logically conclude that my files were gone for good. At the very least, Seagate could have emailed me a note that gave a status update. They didnt. I took me writing them, politely letting them know that I wasnt exactly happy, to get updated status information. That disk was the replacement for my crashed disk. AND WAIT, IT GETS BETTER: Its now October 4. I purchased it on March 28. They sent me back a drive that arrived today. It supposedly has my recovered files on it. This drive is password protected. The original wasnt. I cant access the files without the password, but did they send it to me? Nope. Once again, Ill have to spend time on the phone and write emails. It seems like theyre really trying hard to blow it every way that they can. Update: On Saturday, October 5, I sent an email to the CEO of Amazon and the CEO of Seagate about this ongoing saga. I didnt expect to hear from either of them until Monday. Amazon called me within 20 minutes, even though it was a Saturday!!! Amazon was willing to bend over backwards, but the problem clearly is with Seagate. Have I heard from Seagate? Of course not. Ill send them a certified letter in a few days. October 8, 2 pm: After contacting Seagate yet again via yet another email, they sent me a text and an email with the password. I also got a call from them. Yes, the nightmare is over, but I will NEVER buy another Seagate/LaCie product.

> 24 hourWrong adapter included. I now have to purchase a separate one. You would think a hundred bucks guarantees the correct hardware.

> 24 hourGreat !! small SSD storage and expensive BUT really worth it for the 4 TB size and speed ( Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cabling ). Cons: None yet. Pros: See above and rugged surrounded plastic-rubberized shell; lightweight; VERY good capacity ( 4 TB ) and speed ( make sure you get the ‘Pro’ model.

> 24 hourIve had 2 of the 5TB hard drives for about a year or so now and havent had a problem with either one of them *knocks on wood*. One I travel with to work daily the other gets a lot of hard use at home, files being transferred off and on and shuffled around throughout the day. It has gotten some dirt and debris on it and definitely has gotten banged around while traveling in my backpack although I try and keep it as secure as I can, its even gotten some light water on it from my backpack being soaked from the rains down here in Texas, throughout all of that its stayed in working order. Not much more I can say about this drive. So long story short, TL;DR this is a great little drive thats ultra-portable, can withstand a few bumps and bruises and can weather the elements fairly well (please forgive the pun) and it definitely earns a well deserved 5-stars from me.

> 24 hourExcellent drive, fit’s in the accessory pocket of my backpack, fast USB-C. With the great quality you can always depend on from LaCie. Carrying a smaller device but need large storage with you? This is the way!

> 24 hourThis is my second LaCie hard drive, and I’m a big fan. I use it as a Time Machine backup for my Mac. Works great, travels well, and it has always been dependable. I will definitely buy another when the time comes.

> 24 hourThis is my go to hard drive as a full time photographer. I use to use Western Digital but after a terrible incident where I lost ALL my files & had to pay $1700 to get the disk repaired to get my data back, I have not gone back lol I feel my data is safe with this drive.

> 24 hourThe LaCie is very easy to use, though I did have to buy a converter for the laptop. The software for backing up files was easy, though took some time to set up, but makes things easier down the road. This is my second, with the first to back up photos.
