> 3 dayWe have a crazy Marvel/Lego fan in the house. It pains me to say this, but this set did not impress. Of the Marvel sets that are out right now (mid-2019), my kids regard this as one of the least interesting (though better than the junior sets). The set draws from Spiderman, Far From Home, and attempts to make use of one of the movies more spectacular locations, Venice. This doesnt work very well on two counts. First, its not a great set-piece for play. Theres a bridge. Theres a cafe. Lego has thrown in two action levers that pop the seats in the cafe as well as the mid section of the bridge, but it is still fairly static. My kids give the set 2 stars for playability. Second, in terms of creative building, these are bland representations of Venice. Take a look at what the Lego designers are doing with the Ninjago sets and you can see a quantum jump in architectural detail. The LEGO Hydro-Man Attack includes four minifigures, Peter Parker, MJ, Mysterio, and Hydro-Man. The mini-figures have some draw, three of them being exclusive at the time this set came out. The Peter Parker figure is cool because his mask is pulled halfway up. MJ does not look much like Zendayas version. Hydro-Man is constructed from a large number of small trans-blue pieces. The structure really needed to be more detailed and the cafe needed to be larger. The set has the feeling of being reduced down to just the essential elements so much so that it has no useful scale or character. The gondola, for example, feels like a clunky, chunky representation that used the least number of bricks possible. Parts-wise, the set has a decent number of arches, slopes, and small plates. You could easily convert this into something more interesting, especially if youre main reason for buying the set is to acquire the mini-figures.

> 3 dayOnce put together the set is difficult to move because it falls apart, but if we used a big square piece underneath it might be ok. There are so many cool aspects to this set that we love, like the bridge exploding with the right touch. My son is thrilled and I’m impressed; both of us highly recommend this set!

> 3 dayFor such a small set there are quite a few moving and hidden play features incorporated into it. This set is also fun because you get a couple of new villian mini figs, as well as MJ and a cool Peter Parker mini fig with a transforming spiderman head. Good set for play of good vs bad guys.

> 3 dayLEGOs Spider-Man Far From Home: Hydro-Man Attack set is a fairly easy to build. It took me about 1 hour of leisurely building to complete the set. The included instruction book is illustrated nicely, and easy to follow. Once completed the set is a fun mixture of a towered coffee shop and bridge over a Venetian canal. There are some really cute details in the set such as the coffee maker, the rat, and the gondola boat. The included mini figures are nicely detailed and the water tower that Hydro-Man rides upon is cool. The set has two break apart sections that are triggered by hitting a round target. There are two sections on the top of the bridge that pop off and the table and chair by the coffee shop flips over. All in all... a wonderfully designed set.

> 3 dayIt comes with four mini-figures -but of course her favorite is Mary Jane. She also likes the Peter Parker in disguise mini-figure because you can take off the Spiderman cap and still see part of the costume, as if he is just starting to change into Spider Man. This means that she now plays with the Peter Parker figure with her other Spider Man (from another set) because she pretends that Peter hasn’t changed, and then he has, and she enjoys the transition between the Spidermen(?) I must admit I also really like the creativity of the Hydro Man figure; it allows you to build him as high as you want with these neat blue see through (and stickered) pieces. The rest of the set comes with a lot of webbing, which makes sense, as well as two ‘secret buttons’. The first, when pushed, knocked over a table which then causes any seated mini-figures to become airborne. The second button is behind the bridge which causes the top part of the bridge paving to fall off. No so exciting to me, but the kids seem to like it. I think it is a nice set -it is affordable, set in an exotic location, and has two “bad guys” and “two” good guys. And as I have two children, both get to play. A win all around.
