The Ninjago vehicles are interesting. My grandson has a nice little collection. I think this one fits in well. There is the standard gold and red color theme. This Ninjago set also comes with seven minifigures which is huge. Some have the additional Crystal accessories too. Its a larger building set and he took his time to build. He was able to complete this set on his own and required no assistance. The instructions are well done and he was able to interpret them all on his own. The finished Dragon Raider is a sturdy build and one that is play worthy.

My son really loved this set. I think one of his favorite things was all the mini figures that came with it, there was enough to start a small war. This is another great piece of the Ninjago Lego collection, I love all the purple clear flames, as well as the blue translucent wings, it makes these sets particularly fun. My son loves playing with these at night with a string of lights, so that different clear parts light up while he plays.

Im reviewing this season of Ninjago sets from the perspective of it being an action figure toyline with vehicles. Im imagining it like if this set were a giant hero vehicle, like a tank or armored personnel carrier, with included action figures. In most toy lines, youre lucky if you can get figures for around $10. And for deluxe figures, like I consider Zanes dragoon form in this set, youd be looking at more like fifteen. Looking at it that way, theres like $75 in figures in this set. That makes the vehicle cost you only $15, if you go by the retail price of this set. By that logic, especially with some figures exclusive to this set, this set is a steal. If you make it maybe a little more reasonable by pricing it by Legos own prices for individually sold figures, you could say there are six minifigures that would be priced at five dollars each and one deluxe figure worth maybe seven. Thus, by other Lego prices, youre looking at $37 in minifigures. So you could imagine this is a big vehicle that is a bit overpriced, essentially giving you free figures galore, or a set of seven figures that includes a giant vehicle (essentially a Batmobile for this toyline) for only $53 at retail price. From any of those perspectives, I feel like there is value in this set. Sure, it seems expensive when you look at it all at once, but breaking it down, I feel like it is a reasonable deal. The figures Ive already mentioned several times look great in this set. The dragoon form of Zane is spectacular, as are the other Ninja this season. This set also has one huge positive for me, in that Skylor is included. Ive only seen up through seasons nine or ten of the cartoon, and she is my second favorite character, after Neuro the Master of Mind. So, Im glad that she is being brought back from season 4 and used more in the show. The fact that she is included in such a great assortment is even better. I love that Lego has included a substantial force of villains even if they dont get a vehicle to challenge the Ninja with. In my opinion, Id rather have more villainous minion figures than a tiny do-nothing build for the bad guys. So, I fully support this choice. The vehicles playability is pretty great as well. The cockpit is roomy enough for both Kai and Skylor to fit simultaneously, and they are both facing forwards. I like that they even went with stadium seating elevating Skylor enough to see over Kai. As Ive hopefully shown in my photos you can get some radically different looks out of the vehicle. The rear tires are on an assembly that can rotate under the main body of the vehicle to give it a more condensed tank defense form. And then they can rotate behind the vehicle, while you splay the forward arms out to the side, twist the action feature knob to shift the cannons and blades/wings of the vehicle, and even the tail segment can slide out from over the cockpit to go backwards. The looks you can get out of the vehicle by shifting these different segments are varied and youve got room to experiment with what looks best for you. My only caution is that the since the tires in front are rubber, if you splay them out (as in not having them directly going forward) the whole vehicle isnt going to roll forward well. They will grip your table/floor and want to splay out even further resisting the forward motion of the vehicle while they do. So, it looks great, but functions less well as a practical feature. So, now to get to the beetle in the room. Its a beetle. They say this is Kais Dragon Raider. No. It is Kais fire-Beetle Wagon. It just does not look like a dragon. The horn on front looks like that of a rhinoceros beetle. The wings dont look like big leathery dragon wings to me or even fins like those on other dragon designs; they look like the wings beetles hide under their shells. And the silver eyes they have on the head of the vehicle (where they used a silver exhaust piece) look like the eyes of an insect. Even the forward facing spindly arms and giant torso are reminiscent of a bug. Maybe it is the vehicle summoned by Kais dragon power. (I havent seen the episodes these sets are from.) But, I cant see calling it a Dragon vehicle of any kind. It isnt. Its a buggie-mobile. That said, Im borderline phobic of bugs, but this vehicle doesnt creep me out. So, the effect isnt so strong as to render it unplayable. It just doesnt look anything at all like a dragon to me. So, apart from a bizarre choice in calling this a Dragon Raider, this set succeeds in value, play features, fun factor, and is excellent for its supply of full antagonist figures included in a single set. Also, if you like the season at all, youre going to have to get the set at least for those Skylor and Zane figures.

We have not been able to finish this as there are pieces missing. With having an 8 year old into Legos, idk if he lost them or they are actually missing. So this is a project that unfortunately has not been finished. It’s Lego, so I can order them, the product is great, just not complete

Such a great set to visualize and play what the kids see on the TV. My 7 years old really like these Ninjago sets and can spend hours on them just to build them. Hes not a big Ninjago fan but he sure love their lego sets

Wow– I am so impressed by how readable these directions have gotten. When I was younger and playing with Legos, I was always turned off of the bigger projects because the directions were always too hard to follow. They were long and meticulous, and the pictures were in black and white so you could never see where you were supposed to place the pieces. Not only are the directions now super easy to see with bright and colorful pictures, but they also help you follow the steps really easily by labeling which pieces you need to organize before putting them together. The pieces also come in their own individual baggies instead of all being jumbled up. This helps protect them from getting damaged during transportation and if you are extra anal, you can place them back in their individual baggies when you’re done because they are resealable. Additionally, there are a ton of extra videos online that can help you build this particular model. I’ve been watching my nephew build this up for a few days now and it has been an experiment for us adults to watch him construct it completely on his own. He has been able to find a lot of help online either in forums or on YouTube which has relieved a ton of frustration. There weren’t any missing parts in this box which also relieved some of the stress of buying these larger kits! Overall, this is an awesome gift for kids or a fun project for adults. It is stress-free and a fun way to kill some time!
