When I first had my Nitro 5, there was a lot I loved about. It could reach 120fps and was decent for most of my games. I loved it. But when I had to upgrade, I genuinely didnt want to spend too much as a working student. I did a lot of research and yes, the top brands of ACER , ASUS, HP, ALIEN they had great laptops obviously. But finding this one was a god sent. I can clock out at 240fps on most of my games. The upgrades to 16gb RAM and to add my HYBRID drive was flawlessly easy. The design is very sleek, mint fresh and effortlessly classy and simple. In fact, it stays well hidden as a gaming laptop. Its lightweight and easily portable for travel as a student compared to the 7lbs most gaming pcs start with.

Upon arrival, I immediately took the ram out and upgraded to 2x 16gb Samsung sticks. Didnt even turn it on first.

This machine comes with a capable mid-range AMD Ryzen 5 processor and a low end graphics card. The screen is non-touch 1080p FHD which is good, 4K is too high a resolution for a screen of this size. The key to the screen is its 120Mhz refresh rate. It will not be your bottleneck when gaming. At 250 NITs it is not very bright.

I really like the laptop itself. They did advertise that it was windows 10, even though its windows 11, which makes me pretty mad because I hate windows 11 and all of my other devices are windows 10. Not a super big deal but slightly annoying. I use it for school and for games occasionally. One thing about playing games is that it throttles your fps unless youre plugged in, which was annoying initially, but not a big deal. This makes more sense now that I realize how bad the battery is. Im lucky if I get 1 minute per 1% of battery life, even just doing school on battery saving mode. Its unfortunate but it just means youll have to be charging constantly. Dont expect to be able to take this to a coffee shop and study without having to make sure youre sitting next to an outlet. Overall 4/5 stars, great, fast laptop, horrible battery!

After reading plenty of reviews and comparing this with other similar systems, I took the leap and purchased it. Ive been playing games on Xbox Game pass with my Xbox Controller and so far they all run great. I do recommend upgrading the RAM to 16GB (comes with 8GB). Its a simple process (check YouTube). Ill also probably upgrade the SSD, as it only has 256GB available. Not horrible, but games can be very large. Cloud gaming is a good option too which runs smooth on this system. Im happy with it so far, definitely recommend!

For its price point, I am impressed with this laptop. I really like the GTX 1650 GPU which allowed me to run Second Life at 50 fps which is good and comparable to what I get on more powerful desktop computers. Realize that display is only 1080 HD, the SSD is only 256 GB and RAM is 8 GB shared with the graphics. There is no touch screen. Given those limitations, this is still a very powerful gaming machine. The laptop came with a bag of misc parts and no reference in the manual on how to use them. They appear to be parts needed to install a 2.5” hard disk or SSD which considering the small size of the SSD in this model, I found very interesting. I did find a maintenance manual online that looks like it might be useful in taking advantage of these parts. It would be nice if the unit had come with instructions because I would definitely be interested in upgrading the storage on this laptop. The small SSD that came with this laptop is very fast. Things that I didn’t like about this laptop was that although it has a camera on it, it does not support the face recognition for Windows Hello, nor does it have finger print recognition. The other thing I didn’t like was that after spending a day running Windows 10 updates, it still wasn’t at 21H1 when it done updating. Hopefully it will catch up soon. It may sound like I am not happy with this laptop, but that isn’t true. I really like it. The wifi was very fast reaching speeds close to what my ISP service provides.

I dont do any gaming-- so I cant speak to specifics there. However, between the hardware, built in software for running macros, 8Gb DDR4 RAM and the SSD-- this seems like its be a good contender for a lot of todays games. Obviously it has wifi built in, but it also has an Ethernet jack as well.

Great laptop, can handle everything I throw at it without a cooler pad. Its a laptop, so obviously it isnt going to play new games on max.
