Greater than one weekHow difficult can it be to punch down a keystone jack? I bought these jacks, that are almost $7 a piece versus CableMatters $2 each, thinking that I could speed up terminations with Fluke’s JackRapid tool. What a huge disappointment. First off, the cable is only able to come out at an angle using the JackRapid and not straight out the back of these keystones. Not Leviton’s fault, I’ll admit. Try and punch these jacks with a 110 tool and there is no strain relief when you have the network cable coming straight out from the jack. Definitely the combination of the 23 AWG cable + JackRapid tool + expensive Leviton QuickPorts = frustration... wasted time. I can do 3 CableMatter’s jacks with a 110 than I can using the “QuickPort” jacks. The quality of the jacks is very good but that doesn’t cut the mustard when installing them takes so long.

> 3 dayDownside, Leviton is expensive... Upside, Leviton is expensive for a reason. These are really well-made jacks which install reliably every time. Ive never had an issue, even when re-using them. Theyre even made in the US, I believe (maybe Mexico), and at this price theyre actually about the same or maybe a little cheaper than the clone sold at the local big orange box store. You can definitely get cheaper keystone jacks, and some of them might even work fine, but Ive realized time is money and I dont want to spend mine chasing weird signal integrity issues from substandard jacks. Every time I install cabling, I look at the cheaper options and Im tempted. Then I realize that if I have to replace just one bad jack, Ive eliminated whatever cost savings I might have had. Do it right, do it once.

> 3 daySnapped into place in blank without a problem. Included color coded press in tabs for network cable wires. The color coding helped me avoid mistakes when wiring. Would buy again.

> 3 dayInstead of leaving more wire to help in pulling them through the connectors posts (as instructed by Leviton), its easier to use a plastic card, like an old credit card, to push the wires all the way down through the posts. This way, and even if wires use a thicker jacket, posts are able to connect just like they should. Very Good product, but Leviton should provide us with a tool, similar to a credit card, to help in fitting the wires into the posts.

> 3 dayThis Cat6 Ethernet jack snaps into the matching Leviton faceplates. I use the Leviton 6-port faceplate in a 2x3 layout. Start populating with these jacks on the top row first, then work down. The faceplate says which way is UP. I use it with the Leviton punch tool. Everything works really well. It has attached stickers for type A and type B Ethernet wiring. Peel away the top sticker (B) to reveal the bottom sticker (A). Works great. It doesnt matter if you use A or B, but you have to be consistent -- each end of the wire has to be wired the same. For my house, many years ago I chose A. There is also a snap-on cable holder (shaped like a U) that helps hold the wiring in place. It isnt visible in the photo, but is a nice touch. I highly recommend these. I especially like the large variety of colors available. I use the white jacks for regular Ethernet (Internet), green jacks for CCTV cameras, and red jacks for digital speakers. Scott

> 3 dayI have tried other keystone port systems, but always come back to Leviton. They definitely arent going to win the price war, but they just seem more substantial and higher precision than the others. I have used these for a mixture of RJ11, RJ45, Coax, RCA, and Banana jacks -- and all of them fit perfectly, with no slop or play. One word of caution -- Leviton used to package the RJ11 and RJ45 jacks with a small, plastic punch-down tool. No more. If you dont already have one, you will need to order a punch-down tool separately for the RJ11/RJ45 jacks (or get the new tool free jacks, which are quite a bit more expensive).
