> 3 daySave your money people. The cord alone will bring enough frustration for you to want to throw it against the wall. You cannot lift the scanner like you would a regular mouse. As soon as you lift the mouse your scan is ruined and have to start again. It is possible to scan using this device if you are willing to spend a lot of time and go over your document again and again. I bought this gadget to scan documents quickly and efficiently. Boy, was I wrong. The material at the bottom of the mouse sticks to paper and in my case it was also uneven. Scanning books?-------- forget it.

> 3 dayI’m a teacher and it is great to have this scanner. I can scan either text or pictures to make worksheets or tests for my classroom. I’ve recommended this so many times when I’ve attended meetings or gone to conferences. I actually have three - one for school, home, and traveling. It does a great job scanning. It did take me a couple of tries learning how to move the scanner the first couple of times but it is so easy after you master it.

> 3 dayBelow are my original comments. I have tried to use it repeatedly to scan and copy excerpts from paper documents. Although I can adapt to the size and buttons of this mega-mouse, it is the cord that ruins it for me. It makes it too unwieldy and any efficiency I would otherwise gain using it is lost. It is better for me to scan all the documents to PDFs and then copy images or markup with PDF Annotator. The software is truly amazing; it stitches together various strokes across a document into a decent rendition. Just a shame about the cord. Back to the drawing board for LG on this one. First, if you are having problems installing from Win 7 64 bit with enclosed disc try closing Anti-virus and right click on .exe file and select run as Administrator. I can never figure out why certain software doesnt just install. I have also done two software updates since getting it installed (12 hours ago) so you might check the support site to see if these updates are listed and can be downloaded directly. Once I got the software working, it is awesome. I review various documents and this will certain streamline of my procedure. Hopefully, LG will continue to develop and support it. A wireless version would be money.

> 3 dayFirst off; the scanning works very well, even on a Mac (MacOS X Mountain Lion). Unlike those old handscanners, this scanner really stitches your scan together very well, in a very good quality. Just keep in mind that lifting the mouse during scanning is a no-no. Unfortunately; this mouse is [for me] not a mouse Id want to use on a daily basis. It feel very uncomfortable (I prefer mice like Logitech M510) and unnatural. Having said that; setup was a breeze, and getting used to the way you scan a page is easy. In the end I guess it depends on what youre looking for. Are you looking for an easy to use handscanner: I really can recommend this product. Are you looking for a handscanner that is also a daily use mouse: I cannot recommend this product, as a mouse it fails.

> 3 dayThe new cordless model would make this mouse scanner much easier to use. I like how I can scan my college assignments then have the ability to edit the text. Its still pretty cool.

> 3 dayMouse was not as easy to use or as comfortable as old one. Scanner was not easy to use, especially at the edges of the documents.. Picture scanning was not very good (image). User manual was extremely large, most of it in languages other than english, and one of the WORST, least helpful user manuals I have ever seen. There was nothing in the manual that told how to put a scanned document into word or excell and use the ocr software. Great idea, but a little more efffort in design and a much better manual would have gone a long way.

> 3 dayI bought this scanner because I wanted to scan book pages from recipe books, music books, etc., some sizes larger than an 8.5 x 11. I found that scanning books with smaller (.5) margins were impossible to scan without some excessive work at keeping the sensor on the page and any shift in position caused the scanner to start scanning at a different angle instead of straight. I also found that if you try to scan anything larger than letter-size pages, the scanner memory will run out before youve finished scanning the item, making stitching impossible because when it reconnects to the page, you find you have to start all over. I agree with other reviewers about the cord. The cord is covered in rubber that grips the paper and moves it when youre trying to scan. Nothing can be done about it, other than taping the corners of the sheet to the table surface. Its a huge annoyance. The bad thing is, the cord is positioned level with the scanning surface, so it literally skips across the surface while you scan. A better design would have been to make the cord position higher on the mouse so it doesnt skip across the page along with the scanner and to cover it with a smooth-gliding plastic rather than gripping rubber. Not sure which one of LGs rocket-scientists made that call, but it doesnt work, which is surprising for an LG product. Most LG products are great. This one is not. Further on that subject, you will find NO support for this product on LGs U.S. site. You have to go to the UK site if you want any support or information on this product or to download the latest drivers and software for the product (if the autoupdate quits working within the software, which it does, sadly, leaving you to deal with failed installs.). For me, that kind of raises a skeptical eyebrow as to the reasoning behind the non-U.S. support. If you are scanning flat sheets, it does an ok job, but then flat sheets can be scanned with a regular flat-bed or page scanner better and more efficiently, so why spend money on something like this (unless space is an issue)? If space is an issue, you better keep tape nearby to dock the paper to the surface so the cord doesnt move it. And forget about any type of book scanning. Flatbed scanning is more efficient despite the dark spine sides. Needless to say, Im really bummed that this product didnt work for my needs. Its not perfect, by any means.

> 3 dayThe bad: The Scan button is too easy to hit and when I was trying to scan a page in a book, when I got close to the inside edge, I had to move my fingers to get the scanner close to the edge and twice, the mouse hit the book and scan key and quit the scan mode. The scan button should be on the top of mouse, out of the way. When I installed the CD, it lets you to pick automatic updates or not; I made the mistake and allowed them to notify me of updates, of which they do almost every half hour or so and it is a nuisance to say the least. I had one picture on heavy card stock, that was very difficult to copy as the eyes would move off of the page. This mouse takes up a lot of energy and memory, so keep your unit plugged in and if you have a small amount of usable memory, only take a few scans or your system will shut down as mine did because I spent almost an hour trying this gadget out. I dont use this for a mouse, so the size and shape are not an issue with me. The manual is crazy as they give you one sentance in English, and a bunch of other languages, for each and every step, along with Q & A. at a time and the print is very SMALL. The good that I have found so far: This scans live so you can see the results as you are scanning, unlike the wand that goes onto a SD Card, and you can somewhat edit your picture before you save or send it. For myself, the print looks good, but it might not work on handwriting or lightly printed items. +JMJ+

> 3 dayThis amazing device provides the absolute worst of both worlds. Its a slippery-surfaced mouse that feels downright awful in the hand, and a scanner that can barely function. At best, interesting to play with. Once you get past the novelty, youre left with an awful scanner that can take several passes to get a single flat sheet correctly seamed together. And dont even think of scanning out of a bound book, it will slip off of one edge on one side and bump into the binding on the other. Any removal of the mouse from the scanned surface will confuse the scanning software and force you to start over. For half the price, you could get a Cannon flatbed that is the same size as a laptop. If youre really desperate for a scan, scanner software that runs on the iPhone does well with with the build-in camera, too. These far better options have left my LG scanner mouse completely unused. I only wish that I had returned this joke of an accessory in time for a refund.

> 3 dayIt scanned no better than my old 300 dpi scanner, even when set at 1200dpi and with me scanning back and forth many times. It seems that the software included is improved over older software, but there is still room for improvement. It is a great idea, and will probably become a great product . . . eventually.
