As a construction Boilermaker in mostly VERY dirty conditions, I change my cover lens every two or three days. Sometimes daily. In the flyash & silica, they dont clean up well, they just scratch. You need to change them often to keep from straining your eyes, and the contractors are slow to stock these cover lenses in the tool crib - theyve got plenty of the old 2x4 plates, though. Cause theyre cheap. If I was a pipefitter, welding on the dance floor, maybe. Or building bikes for Jesse James. But if youre in the dirt, the cost of keeping these hoods up is prohibitive. Starting with the overpriced cover plates.
