> 3 dayThe author writes well and its easy to understand, even if he does come off a little pompous sometimes. The problem is that for every really cool thing he teaches you, theres something equally as cool that just blatantly doesnt work the way he says it does, if at all. Also, after learning a little more from other sources, Im finding that he does things the hard way a lot of the time. I dont know if thats intentional or not, but when I learned the easy ways it left me scratching my head. All in all its not bad, but take it with a grain of salt and dont expect to become some gazing hacker from it.

> 3 dayNicely done book. Does exactly what the title says: covers the basics of Linux sys admin from a hacker perspective. Its not a deep dive, nor is it intended to be. If youre interested in security/hacking/pen testing but dont come from a *nix background this is a great book to get started with developing some Linux skills.

> 3 dayIve been in the cybersecurity industry for many years now but Im much more familiar with Windows than I am with Linux. Consequently I need to periodically review the Linux commands and this book fit the bill for a reasonable price. If youre relatively unfamiliar with Linux this is a good book. If you have a solid understanding of Linux and the Linux command line/shell I wouldnt suggest this book to you.

> 3 dayMy copy of this (Linux Basics for Hackers) book just arrived. I was going to wait for my bedtime to start reading; but knowing it was written by OTW, I knew it would be an awesome book so I started reading right away. As far as I can remember, I dont recall having ever written a review for any Amazon-purchased product. I am almost at the end of the first chapter and had to stop to review this book now. As I was reading the first chapter, I stopped and quickly scanned the rest of the book because right from chapter one, he starts teaching you the basics of Linux while simultaneously making you practice those newly-learned skills specifically for hacking. I started noticing that pattern in the first chapter and scanned the rest of the book. I noticed that the teach and immediately practice hacking format is repeated all throughout the book. I am loving this book so far and highly recommend it to any aspiring Cybersecurity Specialist/ hacker. I believe that this is a must-read!!!

Greater than one weekIve only just started my Tech journey so Im definitely an empty cup, but this book is totally worth it and breaks things down into terms and explanations that are easy to understand and follow. I bought the spiral bound to make it easier to set it on a book stand and have it stay open to reference while Im learning. Each chapter ends with a mini practical exercise to reinforce what you just learned. I liked this so much that I bought the Master Hacker book just a few days ago as well!
