> 3 dayI’ve been an tinkerer for years. Had some of the cheap helping hands tools. They’ve always failed, or broken. Pros: - It’s sturdy and doesn’t shift while working - Solid build materials - High diversity in the arms allows manipulation of a lot of materials Cons: - The clips utilize screws to keep them in place. Which can come out fairly easily - No ESD clip/mount so be careful Wish there was a light (which I simply build) and that there was a better way to manage the alligator clips. Other than that it’s a solid tool that anyone working with electronics should have.

> 3 dayThe first thing I had to check was if the adjustable arms really didn’t rebound when you moved them into position. It’s actually true. Good solid feel and the base is heavy enough that you won’t accidentally move it. My wife wanted to borrow it for crafts the minute she saw it.

20-11-2024I looked for all the helping hands on amazon and this was the one that offered the most value for money at the time of my purchase. It includes 5 alligator clips, 2 long and 3 short and 6 magnetic pillar holders. It is very well built, all the components are of great quality and sturdiness. The metal plate is very heavy and it will last forever. The alligator clips come with a plastic tube surrounding the tips so they wont damage your electronics. All the magnets are very strong and the rubber feet come with 3M adhesive. I recommend this product.

> 3 dayIm using this for electronics work and its amazing. Ive been using a set of those cheap handy hands things forever and while they are better than nothing they were never great. Being able to easily manipulate the distance between the hands has made life so much easier. Also the bullet style mounts are great when working with strip board. Allows you to flip the board over and solder without having the components hitting the bench causing the board to be lopsided.

> 3 dayThis product works! ...some of the other products offered for this purpose do not! One of the problems with these devices is the arms dont stay in place when you bend them. So you set up a part to work on, (solder) and the arm pops back... NOT GOOD. This product does work correctly i.e. the arms generally stay where you put em The clips have 2 holes which are supposed to correspond to the screw-on nut for tightening, and these loosen somewhat in use which is the only complaint I have. Much better than the Quad hands product IMHO

Greater than one weekFor the price, this is an excellent platform for soldering and working on PCBs. Pros: * The magnetic bases on the arms provides maximum versatility when working on your soldering projects. * The base is thick and heavy - its not going anywhere when manipulating the arms or PCB standoffs. * The PCB standoffs do a good job of keeping a board from rocking around when soldering components to it. * Unlike plastic flexible arms, these arms articulate smoothly and accurately - no clicking in to place or past where you need them. * Removable/replaceable clips are awesome. * The 7x11 footprint provides plenty of room for smaller projects. Cons: * The large base takes up a lot of room to store. * The bases surface scratches a little easier than I would like - dont drag the arms and standoffs too much. If you have seen the Adam Savage YouTube video where he made the portable soldering station, you can replace the plastic arms with the ones from this kit by attaching a steel plate to the base. I did that on my version and it works out well. The base and PCB standoffs can go in a cabinet until I need them.

> 3 dayThe rubber pieces they are supposed to be attached to the bottom for stability were just thrown into the box with nothing covering the adhesive, so now they are stuck to everything in the box (attached photo). After peeling them off, theyve become useless because the adhesive is covered in ripped paper/cardboard. Not only that, 1 of the rubber feet is missing... only came with 3.
