Magnifier takes some practice.when reading a book. At first awkward, but afterwhile it worked for me more smoothly for reading the whole line of text and on to thenext line.

We bought this for our 92 year old Uncle...He couldnt see to read and he loves to read.....Now he is reading his books again!!! He absolutely loves it!! We just bought him a pair of the glasses for Fathers Day....Well see if that helps him to be able to watch his favorite baseball team.....The Detroit Tigers!!

I bought this to use when reading hard-cover or paperback books with normal print. While it magnifies well, a person needs 3 hands to use efficiently, esp. with books which don’t lie flat. You need 2 hands to hold the book open and this on the page. Turning the page, therefore, is very awkward and time-consuming without that 3rd hand if you don’t want to lose your place in the book. I’m sure it’s helpful in a store for reading the fine print on ingredient lists, but then you have the problem of it not fitting in your pocket between uses. Great idea, but not really practical in use.

After installing the three required three AAA batteries, it worked as expected. The reprinted pages within the text of an instruction manual contained very small print. I was unable to read these pages before I bought the magnifier. I thought the lights would be unnecessary but using them is a great advantage. The first evening I had the magnifier, we lost our electric power. I was able to continue reading and also used it as a light to find my way around the house. It would be so handy for those wanting to read in bed. I am very pleased with this purchase and plan to buy one for my daughter.

I like it for my aging mother, but wish it was full page sized (8 1/2 x 11)

Overall I am not thrilled with this item. The batter cover would not stay put and after the last time it popped off I lost it, so the batteries are exposed. I wish the lights were brighter. The way I have to hold it over the text it casts shadows, which is irritating. It is not comfortable to hold. I have to constantly adjust it to get a clear well-lit view of the text. I need something like this as my eyesight is diminishing and I need a new eyeglass prescription, which I cannot afford right now. Still, this is better than having nothing or having a smaller magnifying glass that isnt lit.
