the Super Clamp work very well without the stud at a great price

Great clamp. It will not do a great job of clapping on to a 2x4. It just barely fits around it.

Im very pleased with my purchase, as this thing seems to be indestructible. Its as solid as a rock, with a good magic arm holds my EOS 5D4 clamped on anything, with lens, light, microphone, battery grip and wireless receiver.
