While this slide/negative viewer is a bit on the pricey side, it appears well made and from my initial experience does a good job with both slides and negatives. You put the slides in from the top and when ready to move to the next slide, you press a release button which deposits that slide in a holding tray below. It is a good simple system and it works. The tray only holds about 5 slides before it interferes with the next slide being ejected, but it is better than putting them in and taking them out one by one. While the negative viewer (the side slit) is better than trying to hold the strips up to the light, keep in mind that all you are getting is a magnification of the negative. You will only see dark and light shades, not color. However I find that it helps me identify what the picture is about before I scan it. About the only negative (and thus the reason for 4 stars versus 5) is that no AC adaptor is included with this model. Considering the price, it should be. It is not easy to find good quality AC adaptors and they are not cheap. If you go looking for one, take the viewer with you since adaptors come with a variety of types of tips and you want to make sure that it works for your model. There are adaptors that are called universal that come with multiple tips that are good choices assuming one fits your viewer.

I’ve been using this to view slides that were found in my attic. It’s just what I needed to be able to see the pictures clearly.

I was able to get the job done with the Medalight 35mm Film Slide and Negative Viewer however, it would stick once in a while. It was not difficult to remove the slide, usually by turning the viewer upside down and pressing the button to eject the slide. The viewer works fine to magnify a slide large enough to know what the picture is.

Im pulling together older slides and determining which of a zillion negatives I want to have reprinted from dinosaur pre-digital days. Precious family memories, so worth the effort. This tool is really helping with the slides, although it jams occasionally (probably the fault of the slide but takes a bit of an effort to unjam).

We had all the slides from 2 families to go through, and this made a big difference in the efficiency of that chore. Occasionally, there would be a hang-up as the slide was ejecting, and we could usually see that it was because the old paper slide frames were a bit warped. That would be the only demerit that I would mention for this item. Im glad that we purchased it.

It says slide and negative viewer. Its okay for slides, but negatives just look like negatives. I could look at them on a plain white piece of paper and get the same view.

35mm slides hang up in the viewer (do not eject) making it very difficult to drop in and view the next slide. 50% of the time, slide sticks in the viewer. I have not used this device to view film so I do not how well that works.

Product seems to work okay, but the box I recvd was obviously previously opened, then resealed -- I do not consider that a new product. Ill keep it, though, as returning it for that reason would be silly. The main lens is dirty inside and out. I may decide to take it apart to clean it as some point, but itll work for now. I didnt notice in the description, but a power supply does not come with it, and is sold separately. It also runs off 4 AA batteries, though.

Had a viewer many years ago, and I remember it as working smoothly, without a hitch. Although it too was a manually operated viewer, it had the capability of holding a small pile of slides in a side tray and pushing them through one at a time, with the next slide pushing out the previous slide into a holding tray. This view must be fed one slide at a time into a slot at the top. Then it drops down into the viewer. The view is fine and the picture is clearly shown. However, it tends to jam when the release button is pressed to clear the slide from the viewer. I cannot in all fairness blame the viewer for all the jams, because my slides are old and some may have slightly swelled edges. But some are pristine, and they still sometimes jam. I found that I had to use a pair of tweezers, while holding down the release button, to clear the slide. It works fine for the job I need it to do, and thats to be able to review what is on the slides. it is probably as good as any available. But not as good as the one produced many years ago.
