Melissa & Doug Vehicles Jumbo Knob Wooden Puzzle (8 pcs)

These are good size sturdy knob puzzle pieces for little hands. They are also thick. I still prefer the chunky puzzles over these as they allow my child to see the whole item without a knob in the middle. My daughter enjoyed the different vehicle pieces and it helps her practice recognizing them. Overall it depends on the type of puzzle you are looking for but as a knob puzzle this is one of the better made selections.

Just some rough edges that make me mildly nervous with a young toddler. Splinters arent fun.. having said that we havent had any splinters and I havent taken the time to sand it so its probably fine.

I almost didnt buy this product because of the negative reviews. The puzzle I ordered came shrink wrapped and in perfect condition. The pieces and frame are made of thick wood and all of the pieces have knobs, not like in the picture. I called Melissa and Doug because I was concerned about the negative reviews. They told me that the pictures are not painted, but they have a high quality laminate on top. The pieces are not made to get wet, but they shouldnt fall apart if a little moist sometimes. In my opinion, a one year old should be doing puzzles with supervision so they can learn how to do a puzzle. The pieces should not be used as a chew or sucking toy for a long period of time. Even solid wood will warp if put in mouth and chewed on for a while. One year olds do like to put everything in their mouths though. My grandson did put the piece in his mouth for a few seconds a few times, and the piece did not start to fall apart. The knobs are solid wood and my grandson prefers to put the knobs in his mouth rather than the piece itself. Its reassuring to know that the knobs are screwed, not glued, so I dont have to worry about them falling off. I highly recommend this product. Just use it with supervision and dont allow your child to use the pieces as chewing or sucking toys.

It would of been a great learning tool . I returned the first one I purchased because the paper peeled off , Received another one and the paper still peeled. I would not recommend it.

Melissa & Doug wooden puzzles really are my favorites; they are sturdier and better made than my sons’ other wooden puzzles. I have a two-year-old and a four-year-old. For my younger son, the eight piece Melissa & Doug Vehicles Jumbo Knob Puzzle is the perfect transition from the three-piece Melissa & Doug Jungle Friends Jumbo Knob Puzzle he was starting to outgrow. The pieces are smaller, more like the pieces from the Melissa & Doug chunky puzzles we own, but instead of being raised like the chunky puzzle pieces, there is a nice big knob on them, which is perfect for my two-year-old’s younger, more uncoordinated little hands. The pieces are colorful and big enough that both my boys ended up playing with them as if they themselves were toys; my four-year-old is currently flying both the helicopter and airplane pieces around our living room. If you have an older preschooler, like my four-year-old, they would probably be happier with the chunky puzzles, but for the younger toddler set, the Melissa & Doug Jumbo Knob puzzles are just perfect.

Big knobs reduce frustration for both the baby and parents. When it is time to clean up, the knobs make clean up so much faster!

My 12 month old had this puzzle for 10 minutes and it’s already damaged. The manufacturer says the puzzle is for age 12 months and up but they obviously don’t understand that 1 year olds put things in their mouths. The second it got wet the paper image that is adhered to the wood started to come off. Extremely disappointed!!!!
