This miniature zen garden that fits on a desk top is great for clearing your mind during the work day. Take a few deep breaths, smooth out the sand, draw lines with the rakes, position the ornaments. It may sound silly to some, but its a way to stop thinking about work and relieve stress by engaging mindfully in a relaxing manual task. If youve never tried it, you should! It incorporates into your home or office decor, and the great thing about it is that you can change up the layout of it to suit your mood. I love it! The internal packaging in the box is very well presented, with every item neatly wrapped individually. It would make a very nice gift. There are a bunch of pebbles, rocks, and other ornaments, and an assortment of bamboo rakes and other tools for working the sand. In other words, this has class! One of the little ornaments got broken during shipping, but I used a little bit of Elmers glue to fix it. Cant even tell it was ever broken. This is really cool, and my office is now more pleasant because of it.

This zen garden comes with more than enough items. You have enough sand, stones and other items to use if you choose, or to just set aside. It comes with several different rakes, so you can choose which one you like. I used 1 bag and only a portion of the items. I will probably simplify more just because i dont want a cluttered zen garden.

Why so cheap with the sand when everything else was top shelf.

Wow! This is a really cool product. I bought for my wife and I to use for pass time. Turns out to be a very good stuff. You can get really creative. I recreated one of the 7 designs in the included design guide. I will try to make other designs too. It looks gorgeous when we set it on our dinning rooms table

There are parts of this Zen Garden that I like a lot, some are a bit cheap looking.. A few years ago I was very honored to have been able to be able to visit a Zen garden on a regular basis and work my stress away by raking the sand. It is a very meditative processes. In the garden I worked in there was very little in it, some different sized rocks trees and a bridge that was necessary. I feel that this box has way too many accessories. I will never use them all at one time, and there are some I’ll never use at all because they simply aren’t meditative (for me) and I feel they look a little cheap. (the trees and the pagoda just don’t fit, and why is there a duck and lotus when there is no water feature?) I only want a couple of things in my garden at a time. It’s the raking that is meditative to me, but others find looking at what they’ve done helps them begin meditation. Whatever you helps you, feel free to do it. There is a leaflet enclosed that gives ideas for different ways to organize the Zen garden to get you started, I think this could be very helpful for a beginner, or someone who hasn’t done this in a long time, or even for me, who hasn’t worked on a desk top Zen garden. I think this would be a nice gift for someone who has a lot of stress and is interested in mindfulness or Buddhism.
