Mrs. Meyers Hand Soap, Made with Essential Oils, Biodegradable Formula, Basil, 12.5 fl. oz - Pack of 6

I really liked the smell of this at first. It didnt take long, however, to be overwhelmed by the scent. Calling it Basil is a stretch. It just smells sweetly perfumed to me - to the point that you can smell it when someone has washed their hands with it and they walk by you. I wont buy it again.

After using Mrs Meyers basil dish soap at a friends house and liking that scent, I ordered these liquid soaps. I find the scent to be very strong and overpowering. However my biggest issue is that this particular scent smells very synthetic to me, unlike this companys other soaps ( I like the Lemon Verbena a lot). I now have 6 bottles of this stuff so Im hoping Ill grow used to it, but wanted to warn others.... if you dislike strong scents, you might want to try a different scent from this company.

I bought this because of numerous reviews from different sites. I thought itd be fun. Its not a bad or horrid fragrance, but I would never have bought this if Id smelled it first. There is nothing about it that brings to mind basil, which I adore. I dont like chem-batch fragrances and this is just one more disappointment. It almost feels as if someone took advantage of me, which I know is ridiculous, but, well, it aint basil.

i purchased pack of 6 of the hand soap in Basil scent. it is extremely sharp scent. i have no scent allergies or aversions but the basil scent is so so so strong that it is nauseating. regret buying it. bottles sit in my basement closet now. WASTE !

Love the smell of this soap!

I love this soap! The only reason I deducted a star is the fact that the refills to these are more expensive than the bottles themselves.

I absolutely love fresh basil. I love the way it tastes and I love the way it smells. On food. On me, I wasnt so sure. But having the utmost respect for every other flavor that Mrs Meyers produces, I decided to try it on faith. Boy, am I glad I did. The smell is a very green, clean, warm smell. I may not have thought basil at first, but you can smell more in basil growing wild in an earthy, rich garden - the smell of the flowers that grow at the top of the plant, combined with the beautiful ground it grows in. Wow, I love it. Certainly, as with everything Mrs. Meyers does, it works well. Like the other scents, it is very strong in the bottle, becoming less sharp and more rich when mixed with water. There is no chemical/perfume smell - only the clean smell lingers on your hands and reminds you to wash again. A+

Im a grubby blue collar worker so my hands are an eternally greasy mess. Not only does this soap do an excellent job of removing filth the basil scent is an absolute delight. I have very little tolerance for most perfumes and scents, most of our cleaning products and detergents are either dye and perfume free or very nearly. This basil scent is very, very complex and strikes a nearly perfect olfactory balance of subtle herbal, floral and astringent (in a nice way) scents. All those reviewers incapable of appreciating this masterstroke are olfactorily impaired and have my sympathies.

When my wife bought this soap and told me what scent it was, I wasnt super excited. I love the smell of basil...you know...on FOOD. That said, this has turned out to be one of my absolute favorite of hand soaps. The basil fragrance is mixed with something sweet (maybe the Eucalyptus and Cedarwood oils?) to create a wonderful blend that wont leave you at all feeling like you smell like a side-dish. I dont believe that this hand soap is anti-bacterial (someone please correct me if I am wrong), so that would be my one criticism. In my opinion, I would much rather have an anti-bacterial soap that is harsh on skin than a regular nourishing soap, but thats just my own preference and I havent taken a star off for this because I knew it going in. That said, with a mixture of essential oils and olive oil, you know that this soap will leave your hands nourished and smooth! This is a very reasonably priced soap for the amount you get in each bottle, and the dispenser pump works without issue (you may not think this is important, trust me, Ive seen these fail on numerous other brands)! Highly recommended!

This is good stuff. My only issue was that we ordered this product to fill our sink soap dispenser. The problem was that this soap is too thick and doesnt simply pour out. If you are leaving it in the container that it comes in you wont have any issues.
