> 3 dayI wasnt going to write a review until I read a few of these comments and felt like some people could use my advice. If the thing youre cleaning is one layer only--a sheet, towel, shirt--then this will work. But if its got multiple layers--a chair cushion, couch cushion, pair of shoes, purse, etc.--it wont make a difference unless you can get ALL the layers. Carpeting, especially, is a nightmare. If kitty pees, say, shortly after you go to sleep, then the urine spends the next 8 hours seeping down through the carpet and into the padding, and sometimes even into the floor below. In order to get rid of the smell you have to DUMP, not spray, the stuff onto the spot, let it seep all the way through, and use a shop vac or carpet cleaner rental (from Lowes etc.) to suck it up. (This is assuming that for some reason you cant pull up the carpeting, for instance if youre renting). But beware! For all your money and efforts you might find that the area smells WORSE than before. Thats because youve essentially sucked the urine in the bottom up to the top. And every time it becomes humid, the ammonia will reactivate and smell. The older the spot gets, the worse the stench will be. Your choices are to repeat the entire process (Natures Miracle dump, vac rental, suction) and hope it works, or stick a plastic mat over the area and wait for your lease to be up. Ah, and did I mention, if you used your home Bissell pet vac, now it smells like urine too, so youll need to scrub that out. Truly devastating stuff! If its a couch or pillow: Some people here seem to be satisfied with the results obtained after spraying the pillow as directed. Personally, I am highly sensitive to smells and have only ever been satisfied with unzipping the cushion/pillow, throwing out the foam/stuffing, Natures Miracle-ing the outer covering, and replacing the foam, which should cost you around $30-ish. LONG-TERM SOLUTIONS: Now that youve got the stain out, or at least have tried as much as youre able, its time to think about your next couch. Pleather. Trust me. And, when you move into your next place, if you cant find somewhere with all-hardwoods, buy a BIG waterproof rug, with a waterproof backing, and cover as much of the carpeting as possible. Then, if kitty hits it, you have access to the WHOLE rug, top and bottom, as opposed to the carpet which is tacked down forever. Finally, tip #3 is IGNORE all that cheap kibble in the pet aisle. Yes, I know you dont want to smell tuna mush the first thing in the morning. I know canned food is expensive, and I know the cans take up more room in the recycling bin, and plus theyre heavy and annoying to pick up from all over the house. But wet, meat-only food will keep your cat from building up crystals in his or her (especially his) urine, and peeing in places he shouldnt. The expensive canned food is cheaper than the cost of the vet bill, the special Royal Canin the vet tells you to buy, which you are too afraid not to buy, the UTI medicine, the couch/cushions/pillow replacements, the carpet cleaner rental, and, yes, the Natures Miracle. Well, thats easy for you to say, Mrs. Moneybags, I can hear you saying. NO, I WORK AT STARBUCKS. I AM JUST AS POOR AS YOU, MAYBE EVEN POORER. HEED MY YOUNG POOR PERSON WISDOM. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES, SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHES I HAVE ENDURED. I believe that most millennials these days are adopting pets before having children. And since we dont have fenced-in yards, we adopt cats before dogs. Therefore, if youre like me, your cat is your entry-level pet and child. Its the first thing youve had to feed and groom and troubleshoot and worry about, and its the first time youve spent THIS much time trying to clean up poop, pee, hairballs and vomit. No, its not the same as a human child, but its the closest thing youve ever HAD to one, and it can be frustrating!! So in conclusion--youre doing great, hang in there. Give your cat a snuggle, I can tell you that mine is the best thing that ever happened to me, despite the pee.

> 3 dayReally does work to remove urine scent. The only problem is that you have to know exactly where the scent is coming from! Once you target it, this stuff works amazingly well.

Greater than one weekNever fails if a little accident happens. Mostly, I clean up cat vomit with it and it doesnt leave any stains. I also use it to clean the litter box and it always smells like new after. Do not buy at stores because its always way cheaper on Amazon (as with most products, haha).

> 3 dayI have been using Natures Miracle since 1995 with MANY dogs and kid stuff on carpets and couches, and Ive been over the top happy with it. Ive never seen anything work so well before. Stains, scent of any biological source disappears. Its utterly amazing, and Ive never been without it. I take it with me when I travel with my dogs, just in case. I never worry when visiting anywhere, hotels, family with white carpet, etc. Natures Miracle works like magic. Im back with a solution, yeah!!!! I found a product that is enzyme-based and nothing else, just like Natures Miracle used to be, and it has a very light subtle scent. Its called Kids N Pets, and I can get it at Walmart and lots of other places. It works just like NM used to work because its essentially the same thing - an enzyme=based cleaner that breaks down organic matter and basically evaporates into thin air. OK, Im sure thats not scientifically correct, but thats how it seems given the things Ive cleaned up from my big dogs at times over the years. Scents simply disappear. So, everyone, there is a better product out there called Kids N Pets. Walmart, thats the place to find it. But now theyve gone and scented it for no good reason. I guess the neutral, very light citrus scent was too... something? Now its horribly offensive. All the products now smell like extremely strong fake scents, all products a little different in scent, but all so overwhelming they smell up the room if used. I have to add, however, that it still works as well as it always has despite the overpowering scent. The only thing that changed in the formula was more scent. All the rest remains the same, so it still works as well on stains. Scent, however, is another thing. I am deeply serious - I dont know which is worse: the scent of the new Natures Miracle that overwhelms the entire room for days and a couple weeks, or the subtle scent of cleaned up dog urine that isnt quite all gone. I emailed the company and began corresponding with a customer service rep. I told her all I wrote above. I asked her why improve a perfect product when she told me they wanted to improve it? The scent of ALL of the products has been changed from the original neutral, very low-key scent that smelled clean and quickly disappeared. Im disgusted with the cheap perfume scent that has smelled up my room, and Im sickened with the old bath towels that I keep stacked in the laundry room that I use for various things. The towels are in the cabinet next to the new and improved Natures Miracle, AND NOW THE TOWELS SMELL LIKE THE NASTY CHEAP PERFUME OF THE CLOSED BOTTLE OF NATURES MIRACLE NEXT TO THE STACK!! This is how strong the scent is - it permeates the bottle and permeates into anything around it. Now when I wipe my dogs paws when he comes in from the outdoors, I literally, no exaggeration, am making his legs smell like that nasty cheap scent of the improved Natures Miracle. The rep suggested I try the unscented version, which is not the enzyme-based Natures Miracle. Its loaded with chemicals and an entirely different product. When I brought this to her attention, she had nothing left to suggest, so she subtly shamed me because I simply couldnt be pleased. I am going to return to this review in hopes that someone has found an enzyme-based product like Natures Miracle used to be that is not heavily scented, and if I find something, Ill write it here. Ive gone to the pet stores and seen a number of enzyme-based products, but they are all heavily scented. NOT EVERYONE WANTS THEIR HOUSE TO SMELL LIKE FAKE PERFUME. SOME PEOPLE LIKE A MORE NEUTRAL AIR. HELLO? HELLO!! I wont be buying Natures Miracle any more no matter how much I need the product. Whenever something is discontinued, I eventually find a replacement, and I intend never to give NM another cent - as long as they refuse to bring back the original formula. I asked the rep if the company was considering bringing it back considering the vehemently negative reaction to the improved products, and finally she told me that No, they are not even considering offering it again. Its nowhere in the works. Their responses to these negative Amazon reviews are deeply disingenuous, sycophantic in nature, just trying to appease without caring one bit.
