My Nerf armory begins and ends with the entire DinoSquad blaster line-up. In this review, Im going to share some objective facts about the Stego-Smash along with my opinion on how it performs and operates with adults and my 2 young children (ages 4 and 5), then compare it to the other DinoSquad blasters in the line-up. The Stego-Smash is a single shot spring-powered blaster with a 5 dart capacity. To operate it simply take a dart and load it directly into the muzzle, pull the priming handle back, and youre ready to fling. Thats it really, its mechanically the simplest blaster of the DinoSquad line-up. Positives: We love the aesthetics of this blaster and the Stegosaurus plates along the top are relatively soft to the touch and can be used as crude iron sights. To my adult hand the blaster is reasonably comfortable. The plastic feels durable and Ive no complaints about the fit and finish. I do not own a chronograph, but in my side-by-side comparison, Id say this is without a doubt the hardest hitting blaster in my DinoSquad collection. In my EXCLUSIVE pain-o-meter testing (i.e. when Im shot by this blaster), Id peg it at about a 5/10 which I consider above par for Nerf. This thing will sting, but not nearly severe enough to pause or end a game of foam flinging (except for eye shots). Its also relatively accurate, particularly with waffle head darts. The best part is my young children (one was 3 years old when we got this blaster) are able to prime this blaster because this mechanism is much easier for young children to operate. Oh and its really inexpensive! Negatives: Since this is a single shot muzzle loaded blaster, its slow to get successive shots on target. The handguard may be too confining for larger adult hands. If you have multiple young children who struggle to prime other springer blasters, they will fight over this one. This blaster hits harder than the rest of my DinoSquad blasters, Id recommend some sort of face protection because a dart did fly into an eye once which ended the game. Lastly, the Stegosaurus aesthetics may make this too bulky to be a true sidearm choice. Overall, this blaster is an excellent value. This is a decent sidearm choice if youre going to stick with the DinoSquad theme. The Tricera-Blast is still my favorite DinoSquad blaster, it is just too fun to manipulate and a pleasure to operate. If you have young children who struggle to prime other springer blasters, then Id recommend the StegoSmash. As an adult, if you want to shower your opponents with foam, then Id recommend the Rex-Rampage instead.

Shoots about as well as other Elites, around 70fps is average. Its a cute design, a 5yr old would love it. Disappointed it was glued together, cant take it apart to fix/mod.

I sent this gift sight unseen to my nephew in New York and of course I was concerned about the quality and whether or not it was exactly as described. My family did a Duo call with me so I was able to see the dinosaur Nerf gun. My nephew absolutely loved it and it was perfect for a three-year-old.

I gave this dart gun to my son Hes 5 years old I never heard him scream and dance and just happy freak out over a joy before he loved the appearance of this dart gun it has average power and he has no problem talking and firing and doing everything with his gun its great

My children greatly enjoy playing with Nerf guns and having battles with them. Theyve all enjoyed this dinosaur line, mainly because they look cool. This is a smaller sized one and will only hold 1 bullet at a time to shoot. Itll hold 4 more in the back-up storage. Its easy to pull the pump and its worked well for them.

Sent this as a get well surprise for a great-nephew. He absolutely loves it! He loves the Dino style and it packs a punch easily knocking over his plastic dinosaurs. Makes me a bestest Aunt!
