This gun is nice but it’s hard to load fast during a war....

We bought 3 of these so we could have a family nerf war. Im glad we bought extra balls because the yellow blends in so well with the spring flowers that we lost a few. Oops. Do NOT overload them. They will get stuck if you do. Its pretty easy to unjam it if they do get stuck but when you are in the middle of a nerf war the last thing you want is to have to deal with unjamming. Once we learned to not overload them they worked perfectly for hours!

This is a solid, heavy blaster that will overwhelm almost any opponent. I am not ashamed to say we have an office shootout once a day. There is nowhere to hide from the barrage of darts, balls, and bolts flying through the office. No one is safe with an open office plan. PROs * 60 round capacity is great thing to have as most others will have to stop and reload before this model runs out. At that point, you can walk up for the point blank kill. * Solid and Heavy. This will be a bit big and heavy for small children. But in the hands of an adult, it feels nice. * The pump firing mode. You can hold the trigger down and use the pump (front / non stock handle) to fire rapid barrages. CONs * Unfortunately, this model is wildly inaccurate. Past 10 feet, 50 - 60 % of the shots will be veering 20 degrees in a random direction. This makes it hard to hit targets unless very close. Our office has Apollo, Atlas, Artemis, Helios and Kronos models and they all do this a little bit to a small degree (< 5%). But this models accuracy is truly bad.

Really enjoyed a 4 on 4 game of nerf war! It’s a good gun. The battery powered ones shoot much faster than this manual one.

It is a high quality product. I am very happy with the reloading speed. It is large, though. It is suitable for larger person. Also, being that large, sometimes you feel the need for a smaller blaster, to shoot a few balls. I guess Kronos or Roundhouse would be great.

Fairly accurate, a little long to wield. @6 tall its just within reasonable certainly adult sized, could be difficult to carry around tight turns. No stock or sight to help line up a shot so w/o upgrades its difficult to tell quite how accurate the Hades is but more balls seem to hit their target than not. By sight is say holds up to 90-100 fps claimed. Pretty easy to prime. Easy to load. Holds a whopping 60 rounds, great for melee in a war but if you mostly sit around shooting at china dolls and soda cans, 60 rounds only means spending more time picking up your foam & not saving much time unless you need to be firing all at once. Slam-fire enabled for pure enjoyment and target punishment. Can be moded to prime 2 shots.

My ProChrono Digital chronograph measured the speed of the rounds fired from this Nerf Rival Phantom Corps Hades blaster traveling at the average velocity of 84 feet per second (FPS). My testing yielded better velocities using Nerf’s famed slam-fire function, at 96 FPS. There is probably some logical explanation for this, but I don’t know exactly what that is. So, naturally, since this has slam-fire, this is a springer type blaster, and if you are not familiar with the Slam-fire function, it is when you hold the trigger and pump the priming handle for one shot per prime. To fully utilize the function, you would need lots of ammo, and I felt the Rival Artemis did a decent job at holding 30 Rival Rounds. Well the Hades has twice the ammo capacity of the Artemis, which is the blaster it is modeled after. This now has the current highest ammo capacity over all of the other springers but cannot hold as much Rival Rounds as the new fly-wheelers, the Nemesis (100 round hopper), and surely will not be able to hold a candle next to the Prometheus (200 round hopper). It has a loading slide that you do not necessarily need to pull all the way back to load some Rival Rounds, making it is easier to load on the fly (if that is your thing). It has a 60 ball capacity: three built-in 20 round capacity (3x20 balls) magazines, but they cannot be removed or replaced with magazines sold separately. I suppose that if you need to shoot more than 60 rounds, you are probably too far from your opponent or just blindly shooting preemptive shots. The shots are hard to aim straight like the Artemis, but you could probably outgun someone using one. However, you will not be able to overpower someone with a Nemesis. This is where the other attributes of the blaster come into play: This blaster is less prone to jams. Sometimes the full auto blasters like the Nemesis do not feed right or have jams. The Nemesis and Prometheus requires batteries to work, the Hades doesn’t. Well, that is about the only advantages that you will have. I would have mentioned maneuverability, but the Hades is not exactly light, nor it’s it small. From end to end it is 28 inches, which is about the same size as a Nemesis (28 and 1/2 inches, but enough about the Nemesis). The Hades and the Artemis seem kind of like the Rival versions of the Elite Rampage dart blaster with its front grip priming handle. It has 4 rotating barrels that take turns firing rounds. Apparently, the other three barrels gather rounds to be fired in a counter-clockwise rotation (clockwise from your opponents point of view), firing when the barrels reach the bottom position. There is a top-front tactical rail that extends onto the loading sleeve (not compatible with Picatinny rail accessories, and not truly compatible with Nerf dart blaster accessories, but it is possible to attach them). Since it is on the loading sleeve, you can actually opt to put a Nerf Rival flashlight grip on it to load your blaster faster. It may interfere with your sight line, but it is something out of the ordinary to consider. Or you could put on a Rival Red Dot Sight, if you have one. Although, in my opinion it does look kind of goofy with it on. The ergonomics feels meaty up-front with the big priming handle but does not give the feeling of being nice and solid like the Artemis, it is actually a bit wobbly at the thinnest point and even gives a flex when stressed to either side like it is going to break. In fact, after my testing, I observed the presence of some shavings of white plastic. This indicated that the tract was wearing down from the friction the handle caused during use. Another pain I noticed was that the trigger has an unnecessarily sharp edge to it; why on Earth would the Nerf design team make the main trigger sharp? My finger was starting to chafe after firing off 120 shots, especially because of the pointy tip at the bottom of the trigger. The main pistol grip is an improvement over the Artemis and is at least comfortable to me. The “trigger-lock” or “safety” is a bit too easy to activate IMHO. There is a millimeter difference between being locked and unlocked, and I can easily see someone accidentally flipping it to lock in the heat of the moment. The Hades makes that same obnoxious ratcheting noise that other recent Nerf springer blasters have been making when they are primed, so much so, that I almost wish that there was a switch to turn the loud noise that it makes off. Speaking of switches, there is a lock-release lever connected to an internal locking mechanism located near the middle of the bottom of the blaster. In the past this type of lock accidentally activated when it was not supposed to, and this freezes your blaster up. Thus, forcing you to have to unscrew everything and open up the blaster to fix it. But now you can unfreeze it with the pull of a [low profile] lever. There are 2 uncommonly shaped sling-mount attachment points. One in back of the blaster on the bottom of the fixed shoulder-stock, and bottom of the front of the blaster, under the front barrel. It is much too close to the front priming handle and may smash up against your fingers while you are operating the blaster. In conclusion, my trigger finger may not agree with the sharp edges and pointy tip of the Hades’ trigger. I feel the Hades was a safe and unimaginative addition to the Rival line, only giving a modest boost to the springer lineup when the Artemis already did that fairly well. The ability to resource spent ammo faster and shoot off a decent volley of shots in quick succession without having to stop to reload another magazine was useful in the past, but now there are blasters with capacities 100 and up to 200 Rounds. This made the Hades a boring release, but this is not the only problem with it. There will be some like me who have liked what the Artemis brought to the table and think that the Hades will continue where it left off, then find the quirks like the priming handle will wear down the priming tract with abnormal friction and the Hades will eventually destroy itself with continued normal usage (I am hoping that someone on Etsy like “Out of Darts” sells 3D replacement pump grips). The sharp-edged and uncomfortable trigger will require an unnecessary modification (to file it and then sand it down) just so I can use it without getting blisters. How this was allowed to go into production without someone noticing is downright disappointing. Perhaps Hasbro will need better product testers? Hasbro, if you are listening... maybe find someone like me.
