The Netgear GS305 is ideal for Homeworking, literally plug and play up to 4 devices. I would recommend for home and office use.

I purchased this to power two Ring Elite cameras mounted in my garage, to reduce power sockets and uplink to a Netgear mesh AP, as its an unmanaged switch, it worked just by Plug and Play. its passively cooled and wall mountable, and has a metal case that will be familiar to long term users of Netgear switches Not sure why there is a need to dumb down the description by calling it an ethernet splitter that phrase is just incorrect on so many levels! ;)

Great little switch - plugged it in connected a couple of POE WAPS and they worked straight away. ad no issues with it for over a month of working. Thats all you can ask.

Turns out this hub doesnt support all POE devices - you would need a different model for that. I was unable to get it to power a TP-Link TA-WA801n wifi extender because, according to poat by a netgear tech on their support forum, it operates off a different standard. Another netgear poe hub called GS305PP is needed for that, i.e the same model number as this one but with an extra P on the end. <sigh>

I used this to take an existing Cat 6 cable and convert into an upstream feed for a new Unifi CCTV system. Mounted in the loft, it acts as the hub for the cameras, that then route back to the main house switch. Being fanless is great, as its in the loft above bedrooms, and being wall mountable it is tidy too.

Good replacement for Ubiquitis own 8 port switch with 4 poe ports as much cooler running, although I purchased this as a backup after a bricked Cloud key (1st gen) and having to install new Cloud key (HD type) and re-adopt 4 APs thinking of the possibility of failure of Ubiquiti switch after 3 years + if de-powered and/or re-adopted. In the event the GS305P ran so cool ,that after about an hour I decided to leave it in place and accept the loss of the topology info ie what is connected to a switch port , other reviews have commented on the benefits of un-managed switches after power failure

This PoE switch is unmanaged, so there are no settings that reset to default creating IP address conflicts as occurs with the TP Link switches (dont buy these). After a power outage, this one immediately starts working again, providing power and network connectivity without any faff. And works perfectly the first time, right out of the box. And also costs less than the TP Link PoE router. Excellent for use with CCTV cameras and WiFi extenders.
