> 24 hourNetumScan 13MP Book Document Camera Scanner for Teachers, Multi-Language OCR Setting up this document scanner is pretty easy. You follow the link included on the instructions, download the file and install it on your computer. Unfortunately, for the manufacturer, there are multiple windows alerts saying it is an unrecognized program, are you sure you want to install it? The messages make you feel like you are about to install a virus on your computer. It put me on edge, but I went through with it anyway. The good news is that it isnt a virus and it is safe to download and install on your computer. The Netum program is very easy to use and intuitive. You may need to mess around with some of the settings to see what they do, but your off to scanning documents in no time. I love this product because it is making it super easy for me to go digital with all my documents. Whether it is receipts, product manuals, tax documents, or whatever, I can scan all of those things in seconds. I use to use my all-in-one printer/scanner combination, but after about 20 documents it would overheat and I would have to wait an hour to start scanning again. With this product, you just keep on scanning. The product uses a power 13MP, auto focus imager to scan documents. The programming is spot on and allows you to get high quality images of your documents. I really wish I had this product in college. The first few days of class your textbook doesnt arrive, but the professor is already handing out reading assignments. A student could easily scan the assigned reading material in just a few minutes. No falling behind! I am super impressed with the OCR function. I attached photos of my OCR results. The product can create OCR results for text, word, and excel. Unfortunately, you cannot get an OCR pdf file. This is by far the biggest weakness of this product. The OCR is unable to handle hand written notes and writing; however, scanning your notes in image form is a breeze and can be easily viewed on a cell phone, tablet, or desktop. You can study anywhere. The LED light may seem unimpressive to the human eye, but it is exactly the brightness this imager needs. The camera has the ability to take 250ms exposures, and the LEDs provide the light needed for the camera. One other great aspect of this product. This product does exceptionally well at scanning checks for deposit. Simply scan a check and deposit it online. The bank scanners can easily read the images the first time. Overall, I think this product is a very exciting product at a lower than competitors cost. I plan to use this product to help me digitalize my files, and I highly recommend it.

> 24 hourI am not great with tech, but I needed a scanner for some artwork that would do better than the one attached to my printer. I also wanted to scan in some documents and be able to save them in different formats and make adjustments, so my husband did some research and said that this would be good for my limited needs. Again, not great with tech, but I set up my 3d printer and software easily enough, I use Office Suite every day, do Power Points all the time, run my drawing tablet constantly, so Im not an absolute novice either. However, this setup was a headache for me, so I handed it over to my husband. He found the software, finally, installed it, made some adjustments, and learned how to use it in about an hour and a half. Hes also a perfectionist who loves learning all the little tics and twitches of programs, so he was very thorough with it. He loves Photo Shop and I use an off brand, easier photo and video editor, as I only use it occasionally. So, thats the difference between us when it comes to software. He set it up and we did use it for several scans. First, the room needs to be dark, or the scans come out with shadows on them. Also, the pages need to be as flat as possible. Were looking into an attachment, as we have some books that are old and wont stay flat. We dont want to ruin them, but we would like to scan some in to use some pages for backgrounds and art in our scrapbooking for our genealogy. I think it works great and I do like it, after having it set up for me. He says that its worth the price, but that the set-up process for the software should be easier, and that the software should be more user friendly. If youre the guru in your household, youll figure this out easily enough. However, if you arent, go ahead and have your tech guru set it up and save yourself the headache.

> 24 hourFirst, the NetumScan Pro scanning software is downloadable from the manufacturers site. At the time of this review, the file is called NetumScan Pro Install version 2.2.554. Once on the main page, click Support then Document Camera Setup Guide. Download and install. Its easy, and products have been distributing software and drivers this way for almost 30 years. Dont be dissuaded on this point by other reviews. The software is the most impressive part of the scanner combo. You can scan a book automatically two pages simultaneously, turning pages every few seconds as the camera automatically shoots. The OCR is unbelievably good and effortlessly handles the pages curvature. Separated pages seamlessly reflow together if you use the correct format (see below), and scanning an entire book takes a tiny fraction of time compared to what a flatbed scanner could do. As your source material adds complications, it can trip up the OCR. Side text boxes can be hit-or-miss, and while simple graphics get isolated effectively, increasing complexity will reveal the programs limits. But its a dream come true for straight text and simple graphics. The program also catches italics, bold, and inset paragraphs in my tests. To use the OCR, select Document at the top as the scan type, then on the right panel, choose Text, Excel, Word, PDF(Text), or PDF(Search) as the document type. These are the OCR types, and the OCR language selection option will ONLY appear after selecting from among these formats. The OCR is exceptional, and the UI should highlight it more effectively! Some reviewers moan about the lack of PDF text support, but this is false. The format called PDF(Text) actually photographs a book and then converts it to straight text right on top of the photo of whatever paper holds the original text. Ive never seen anything like it, and its impressive. However, I dont use PDF because I want reflow capability for eBook support, which PDF cant achieve. For this reason, if you wish to convert a book to an eBook, youre better off scanning to Word format, which does reflow, and then you may use Calibre or some other utility to convert to ePub from there. Scanning directly to ePub would be a nice feature to see in the future. I verified the Image Size setting of 4160 x 3104 actually takes pictures at that resolution. That multiplies to nearly 13 megapixels, so the reviewer claiming it only takes only 8-megapixel scans is mistaken. Features worthy of improvement: I took two photos to test the scanner, and then the autofocus permanently died on the camera. I exchanged the scanner through Amazon, and the replacement has been holding up. Another review complained of blurry photos, so I suspect the autofocus is a potential point of failure. NetumScan Pro automatically recognizes the camera once plugged in, but there is a bug in that the OCR features will only appear if you plug in the scanner BEFORE you start the program. Its a minor annoyance that hopefully gets fixed. It would have been a better product if it had a power button. Im uncomfortable leaving a camera running 24/7, so the only way to power it down is to unplug the USB cable. The head folds down for compact storage. However, this mechanism releases with a ton of force, and if you arent careful, the top will snap down hard. Shocks like this arent ideal for the camera, so take great care when folding it in. Given the pros and cons, I am very impressed with what it can do, and despite the quirks I mentioned, it gets a cautious five stars.

> 24 hourI ordered this as an alternative to my Epson V-850 scanner. I often need to scan a document quickly, and thats not something easily accomplished with my Epson. This NetumScan 13MP Book Document Camera Scanner plugs into my laptop and provides a quicker alternative to the Epson. When I plugged the scanner in, both of my laptops (one running Win 10 and the other running Win 11) recognized it as a camera. Downloading the software, though, was tougher than it should have been. The short user manual enclosed with the scanner tells you to scan a QR code or follow the link. There is no link to follow. The QR code just takes you to the NetumScan website. Searching for the software on the NetumScan website results in a link to a Google Drive file that no longer exists. If you try to find this actual scanner on the NetumScan website, you wont find it. There is only a single document camera shown, and its not this model. I was finally able to get the software by using a Chrome browser, right clicking on the software link, using save as, and then opening the file I had saved. Expect your antivirus software and Windows Defender to issue multiple warnings when downloading the software or installing it. Once installed, I opened the scanning software and grabbed a couple of documents to test out the scanner. First, I could not save the documents as PDF files. The choices were BMP, JPG, PNG, or TIFF. After messing around with the settings, PDF was added as a choice. I found that the autocrop feature works well, but if there is a way to adjust the crop, its not obvious. When using the scanner, you need to reduce the level of any overhead lights. If there is a lot of light shining overhead, the document you are scanning will have a shadow caused by the scanners arm. I turned off the room lights and relied on the scanners built in light source. The scans that are produced are clean and clear. The placement guide that is on the included scanning mat make quick work of scanning multiple pages. You can set the scanner to automatically take pictures at adjustable intervals, so you can just keep turning pages until your job is done without having to hit the scan button. I did not test the OCR function, mostly because its not a feature Im likely to use. In summary, this is a nice document camera/scanner that is held back by insufficient documentation and sloppy software download implementation.

> 24 hourI currently have a doc cam with a flexible neck, and I liked the idea of a straight, stable projected picture. My current one is always a bit slanted and the page looks like a trapezoid on the projector, so I ordered this. I plugged it into my projection laptop. When I went into the camera function, I could see that it was showing as a camera on the laptop. I wasnt very impressed with the photo / video, because there was a line running through it. But I thought Id download the driver to see if it happened with the full app. My laptop did not want to download the driver, but I overrode that. Then, my computer refused to open the downloaded driver for the app. Basically, I cannot get this to function on my computer.

> 24 hourThis NetumScan 13MP Book Document Camera SC T101 is, for me, a piece of JUNK. Im running Windows 10 on a HP 17 Pavilion laptop and Windows 8.1 on a 15 Pavilion laptop (for legacy software and hardware). First: neither of my laptops would recognize the scanner when plugged in. Second: finding the software to run this thing was way too difficult for something this expensive. The first location for the software couldnt be found on the web. The model of this scanner doesnt exist on the product website. The version of the software that I could find for NetumScan scanners, failed to install do to a software issue, even after dismissing a number of windows warnings about an unverifiable source of the software. Third: While the physical scanner device did light up after plugging the USB cable into the computer, nothing else was recognized or functioned as it should have. NOTHING this expensive should be this difficult to deal with in its installation and operation. I cannot nor will not recommend this scanner due to my experiences with it.

> 24 hourThis document scanner works quickly and easily to digitize paper documents or books. You can use it to keep backup copies of receipts and other tax documents. You can quickly scan your grandmothers yearbook, reference books, cookbooks, checks, any printed material that you are worried about losing or is taking up too much space is fair game. I love reading printed books, but they are difficult to travel with. I also have a big storage bin full of my grandmothers yearbooks and journals that I have been working on digitizing so that everyone in the family can have a copy. Using this book scanner is so much faster and easier than using a traditional scanner and I love that you dont have to break the spines on the book to scan the pages. There is an OCR function and it is fabulous! It takes a picture and converts it to text that looks like you typed it into the computer instead of grabbing it off of a book. The OCR cant convert handwriting, but it works great with text. You can download them into a document in Word or Excel and then easily convert it into a PDF file. Setup is pretty easy. Follow the link in the instructions and download the software onto your computer. I did have to click through multiple prompts to assure my computer I wanted to download this program as my computer did not recognize it. The program is easy to use and is pretty intuitive. There are several different setting options you can play around with and I am still figuring all of those out. This scanner is a great option for personal use or a small library or archive. It is user friendly and is pretty easy to figure out. With a little bit of training, I feel that anyone can use this. The price is affordable enough that I would recommend it for anyone. There are so many uses for this scanner that everyone can use one!

> 24 hourThe camera is pretty much plug and play and includes a mat for placing documents to be viewed. Mislabeling the resolution aside, the image quality is very good with strong contrast and accurate colors. Definitely not video grade as the response time and frame rate is lower, but for documents or images, this should not pose any issues. While tempting to try as a hands cam for crafting, even at lower resolution settings, the frame rate is not good enough for quality video capture.

> 24 hourIt was frustrating to have to dig around the Netum website in order to find the software to make the NetumScan 13MP Document Scanner work. So let me help you out. On the homepage, theres a picture of the product and a Full details link, so you d think the download would be there but no, it just describes the product with an offer to buy it. Next, I clicked the Technical Support tab, but there they list the user manuals and setup guides for the various products, but still no download shown for my NetumScan scanner. So I try the Products tab, click on the Document Cameras link and see a picture of my scanner, but still no software. Clicking on the photo takes me back to the original description page, so no luck here. At this point Im starting to get frustrated that theres no Download Software tab on the main page... So I return to the Tech Support tab and decide to try my luck on the Document Camera Setup Guide link in the hope that the software download link would be there. It makes no sense for the link to be there, but at this point, Im running out of options. I click and finally see a link labeled NetumScan Pro Install zip Click that, and theres my link FINALLY! A 770MB file hidden away on the website, and I download it. Why make your customers jump through all these hoops? A Product Downloads tab should be right on the main page! Got it downloaded and then right-clicked to extract the zip file, and after repeated error popups and a loooooong wait, I was finally presented with the Windows Defender screen asking me if I wanted to trust this unknown software. After clicking through, The install commenced (its why this review took so long). Whew! As a document scanner is where this device shines and made me forget all about the the software issues. I took a book and placed it on the mat (after connecting the hardware to my computer and opening the program (press the lightbulb icon on the top of the scanner to turn it on and select the brightness level). Theres a green-lined border around the object to be scanner, and I had to make small movements to it so that the lines were square. With a press of the Photo button, I heard a shutter sound (cute) and had an instant image copy of the book cover. It was that simple. Now there are a host of menu options that you can adjust to tweak things exactly as you want. For instance there is a big jump in image quality between the default BlackAndWhite (Binarization) and the GrayColor setting under Output Effect at the right of the screen. Settings matter. When I tested the Photograph tab for the book cover, the scan missed the black strip at the bottom containing the authors name. But when I chose the Book tab, it was able to scan the complete image. Choosing the Document tab and selecting Original under the Output Effect section on the right, allowed me to scan and preserve the book cover in its original, glorious color. So you really have to try different things to see what works best for your document type. The lighting in the area that youre scanning matters a lot. With all the lights off (including the scanner lights) The device showed a moving green line as if the software was having a hard time trying to find the edges of the image. Turning on the device lights and the room lights yielded images of varying levels of quality. I found that the better the lighting was, the more improved the image quality was as well. Sometimes the scanner would only copy a portion of an image, telling me that I need to play around and tweak and customize things in order to get the effect that I want, it’s a work in progress. So test, test, test! To batch delete several images at once, simply hold the Shift key down and click on the ones you want deleted. Right-click Delete and theyre gone. Theres a lot to like about the NetumScan 13MP Document Scanner. Once you get the software downloaded and installed, a whole new world of document preservation opens up for you. Im glad I stuck with it. Tweak the settings carefully and youve got a solid product on your hands.

> 24 hourFor anyone who has to take physical documents, whether they are books that need to be digitized, or photos, or receipts, or whatever, this device makes your life so much easier. It is not designed like a normal scanner, where it needs to scan slowly. It is set up as a camera, that you put the document under it that you want to take the image of, and boom. Youre done. I am a WFH teacher, and I need to digitize my text book so that I can have it on screen during class for my students. Up until this point, I have been using my phones camera to take the pictures, but there was always angling or lighting issues. Then, couple in the fact that you could see my fingers in the pictures because I would have to hold the book pages (its a thick book, so to make it flat). Now, I just need to go through and re-image every page in the book, so that they all can look crisp and clean, without my dirty fingernails visible in half the photos. Very easy to use. The software does come up as not verified, but I had it installed on my organizations computer, and they did their due diligence before installing it for me. They felt it was safe, and so far, no problems. Definitely a game changer for anyone who needs to digitally record physical documents.
