I was considering an external display for ergonomics, but decided Im fine with the small laptop screen, I just need it higher up. With my MacBook hinge fully open and the stand tilted forward a lot it adds 10 inches of height, which is the right height for me. I rest the keyboard on the base of the stand, if the keyboard is in front of the stand, then the screen is too far away. My small keyboard overhangs the stand a bit but it doesnt rock so its not a problem. The hinges are very stiff, so you wont want to be adjusting it frequently because its a bit of a pain. You can accidentally adjust it so its a bit crooked, thats why people complain that its not square. You can easily twist it straight again. Finally, I wish it matched the Apple Space Grey but it doesnt at all, no biggie.
