> 24 hourOver the years my automotive tool collection has expanded to fill several tool chests, boxes, portable cases and tool rolls. When my family gave me an early Christmas present of a beautiful rolling tool chest, I decided that for the first time in my life I would organize all of my most frequently-used tools in this 11-drawer chest. Which naturally led to the question, which socket organizer is best? In the past, I’ve used a combination of standard steel spring-clip rails, plastic tool box trays, and the plastic and metal trays that some of my socket sets came in. I’ve never been totally happy with any of them, especially the spring-clip rails, which make removing and reinstalling sockets too fiddly and time-consuming. I wanted something better. I was surprised at the number of options! My research led me to various trays and rails from Ernst, VIM Tools MagRails, Westling Machine Co., Triton Products, Hansen Global, Lisle, Armstrong, Goliath Industrial, Sears Craftsman, Snap-On, Husky, Mac Tools, Tekton, Kobalt, Cornwell, Matco, Protoco, Mechanics Time Saver, Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Tooluxe, Ullman, Grip, BenPro Tools, ML Tools, Green Tool, Mag-Clip, MTS, Neiko Tools, Titan, and others. This research helped me develop a list of features I wanted in my new socket rails: Vertical socket mounting to maximize the number of sockets per drawer; Adjustable clip spacing to maximize the number of sockets per rail; The ability to mix 1/2”, 3/8” and 1/4” sockets on the same rail; The availability of additional clips for customizing rails; Easy one-hand withdrawal and replacement of the socket on the clip; A secure grip on the sockets so they won’t rattle or fall off; The ability to mount the rails at the spacing of my choosing; An affordable price, since I need a lot of rails. I decided three common features could be useful but were not mandatory for me: color-coded rails for metric and SAE size sockets; magnetic mounting of the rail and/or sockets; and size labeling for each socket. Color-coding is handy, but since I rarely use SAE sockets anymore I can just physically segregate those sockets or even put them in a different drawer. Magnetic mounting of the rails and/or sockets is handy, but many of the magnetic rails do not have adjustable socket spacing or limit the number of sockets to too few per rail for my needs. Size labeling could be handy, but none of the pre-labeled rails included the full range of socket sizes I needed, and since I’m fairly good at eyeballing socket size after years of practice, I know I can live without labels. So what did I choose? The socket rails from Olsa Tools met all of my requirements, including affordability, and are available in blue for my metric sockets and red for my SAE sockets. They’re not only of excellent professional quality but are very attractive, so it’s a pleasure to open my socket drawers. They hold sockets securely, but it’s easy to remove and replace a socket with one hand. The socket spacing is adjustable, and it’s easy to mix socket drive sizes on the same rail for things like Torx and Allen bit sets, and extra clips are available in groups of 6 or 10. And the pricing is surprisingly affordable compared to most of the other professional-quality options. I’ve ordered 15 rails so far and may be ordering more as I progress in my organization. I received friendly, personal communication from a company representative who thanked me for my orders, and I couldn’t be happier with the customer service. If Olsa Tools were to offer the options of size labels and magnetic tape for mounting the rails to ferrous surfaces, these might be the most perfect socket rails available at any price. But as they are, they’re still the best I know of, and that’s saying a lot. Highly recommended!

> 24 hour[NOTE: I purchased this product/wrote this review when it was being sold for twenty-nine bucks- which was high already. I now see it listed for forty! As much as I like the product, I would not pay forty bucks for em if they were made of solid gold!.] O-K, I had tried some socket rails from that cheap Chinese tool place [Rhymes with arbor eight]- I mean, how can you screw up something as simple as a socket rail, right? Well, that place can! I needed something else, FAST, for my portable toolbox, as the 80 or so sockets I carry in it were becoming a mess. I didnt want any plastic crap; and I wanted something which would be space efficient, to fit in my skinny socket & ratchet box. Enter these Olsa Tools socket rails. At first, I was put-off by the price- I mean, your tool organizers shouldnt be worth as much or more than the tools that they will be holding, right? But after looking around a bit, I kept coming back to these. I liked the way they look; and I liked the fact that you can buy extra clips for them (Albeit, at extortionist prices), because they NEVER (They being any socket rail manufacturer) give you enough clips on the 1/4 and 3/8 rails.... So I bit the bullet. Well, let me tell you, I LOVE these things! The clips slide easily on the rails, with or without sockets; They look GREAT; The sockets go on and off the clips easily, yet they are held securely, so that they do not fall off. The aluminum rails are sufficiently heavy to be quite durable. Although the clips are plastic, they seem sturdy enough- hopefully they will last. In short,as the other reviews state, these are simply the BEST socket rails I have ever seen. I just wish that they would sell all of the sizes seperately; and that the prices were more reasonable. I think (if Im not mistaken) that these are made in Murica [USA], so naturally, you make something in a country which has the second highest corporate income taxes in the world; high cost of doing business; and very high labor costs, it is going to cost way more than necessary. These things are simple enough that they could be made anywhere, easily for a third or less of the price. As much as I love em, I do think that they are ridiculously priced- so as to discourage most non-pros from buying them. But I am glad that I bought them, and will be buying more in the future (You cant go back....). But Cmon! $7 just for a little baggy with 6 extra clips in it?! I do wish Olsa Tools great success with these, and do hope that they will lower the price in the future, as well as offer these in various colors, such as green, blue and gold. (Not only for aesthetics, but that way, you could use one color for metric sockets; one for standard, etc.). In time, I guess Ill get over having to spend nearly $80 bucks to organize 80 sockets (In a toolbox which is older than I am!)- Im sure that my 25 year old Craftsman sockets appreciaye it though, and I have to say, these things really fancy-up my otherwise crappy portable tool set! Most of all though, my sockets are readily and easily accessible, which is the important thing, and theyre not falling all over the place and getting lost, nor ending up loose in my toolbox. tl;dr version: A quality (albeit expensive) product which works great.
