I have used this and command strips. Between the two, this one is the least damage to wall. This can be removed and reused a lot. I did that when I moved. Command strip on the other hand often stick to the paint after a while and strips the paints when they are pulled out. If you have really low profile frame backs and need perfectly plumb photo frames, command strips are better. But for everything else, these are my go-to hangers.

Love these. They go in easy and hang on with a vengeance.

I really like these for hanging framed artwork.

These are more expensive that normal picture hooks, but the nail is very thin and when you want to remove it, it goes comes out of the wall leaving a very small hole thats not very visible.

I am a decades-long fan of OOK hangers, but they have now changed the nails to a MUCH larger size (diameter and length) than they used to be. I can see how that made sense for the higher weight hangers, but why on earth would one want such a tremendous nail for the tiny 10 and 20 pound sizes? A sizeable hole is now left whereas there used to be barely more than a pinhole. Im very disappointed.

The attraction of this style of picture hook was the small hole it placed in a wall. On the right in the attached picture is the 10lb OOK hook purchased several years ago. Small weight limit AND small nail. Now the weight limit is still 10 lbs but the nail included (shown on the left) is the larger diameter previously used for 30 lb plus hooks. While the price for 35 hooks is great, these whopper nails defeat the purpose of using the small hooks.

The OOK pros hangers are the best and easiest hangers I have ever used. I have purchased both the regular OOKs and the Pro OOKs in a variety of sizes, although there are some pros and cons of each type. I personally prefer the Pro OOKs over the regular OOK hangers (I have used both)as they seem sturdier and easier to use. Both are easy to install in the wall, easy to remove, leave small holes and hold just about anything as long as you use the appropriated rated size, in this case smaller items weighing less than 10 lbs. Using a variety of these I have hung anything from small plaques and pictures to large paintings and never had one failure. The con with the Pro OOKs is that the nail head that the Pros use sticks out a bit and sometimes makes it difficult to hang smaller pictures depending on how the frame is made. Regardless though you can get a higher quantity of these for a better price at the HD than here.

Weve been using these for more than 20 years, and they are the best thing weve ever found for plaster walls. However, you need to use them in a specific way to avoid damage. Install at an angle, using the metal hanger as a guide. Then, when you are going to remove them, get the head of the nail in between two fingers and twist it until it goes around freely in the hole. Then, and only then, twist and pull it out and up at an angle. If you do this, you will leave a small hole in the wall (rather than the huge divet that other nails create as other nails pull out the plaster over 2 to 3 inches). The secret to these is that black shaft on the nail, and yes the shaft may seem a bit long, and yet, that is why they work! The nail shaft needs to be long enough to go thru the plaster, and plaster is way thicker than sheetrock. We have tried every single other type of wall hanger on the market since we moved into our Victorian 20+ years ago. Nothing even comes close to these when used properly.

I had these 10 lb hangers previously and wanted some more. The nails in these are HUGE compared to what they used to be. It seems like overkill and will make a fairly significant hole in the wall now. Not very happy with the changes theyve made with these.
