My old optronics tail lights had bulbs. I forgot to unplug the lights before launching the boat and burnt a bulb including the bulb holder housing which would no longer hold a new bulb due to being damaged from the incident. These lights were a drop in replacement. No drilling required. They came with a new wiring harness for the trailer, but my old one was in good shape so I just spliced right into it. Great value on this product.

First off, these indeed are waterproof or at least very water resistant. YES, water CAN enter the housing. However, the actually LEDs themselves are sealed in resin so the water in the housing doesnt affect the circuits. I was having many problems with another set of lights that were non-LED and claimed to be waterproof. It got to the point where after every trip a bulb was out and I had to take the light apart to clean the corrosion off the contacts. These lights are bright, good quality, and so far have held up well. I use them on my duck hunting boat trailer which sees MANY dips in saltwater every year. Since putting these lights on they work just fine with no issues.

Although Optronics doesnt specifically make this, they do have factories in the US. They do make some of their own parts. Happy with the purchase.

I bought these when I was overhauling my utility trailer. Wanted all new wiring and fixtures. Worked well for a while, then I started having intermittent issues with the lights. Signals would work but not when running lights were on, and other odd combinations. Checked the grounds and they were all good, and used a multimeter to confirm the power was being received from the vehicle. Finally went and bought a new set of led lights. Hooked up the driver side first, and suddenly both it and the older passenger side light worked fine. I can only surmise they was some fault in the driver side light unit electronics that impacted both. I guess I could have made a claim under the warranty, but I did not want to wait and buying the new lights was the only way to confirm the issue.

The lights good very good. The only thing the I didnt like was that my old lights had SAE blots and the new ones had metric. I guess I should expect this since almost nothing is made in the United States anymore. Also the description said it had a 25ft wiring harness. I didnt measure, but it did not come close to reaching the end of my 18ft trailer. Luckily I had more wire from a previous trailer.

I purchased this LED trailer light set in 2012 for my boat trailer. I chose this model over other brands because of Optronics LIFETIME WARRANTY. After 3 years, I began seeing a problem on the left light where LEDs were going out one by one. By the fourth year (2016), that light was down to a single LED, and the right side with 1 dead LED and 2 flickering. So I called Optronics. Customer service was very friendly and responsive, and 4 days later, I received two brand new lights as replacements under warranty—at no cost to me. Though I was tempted to deduct 1 star for the time and expense (4 waterproof shrinkwrap connectors) of my having to replace the lights, its refreshing to deal with a company that stands behind their products and warranty. The Optronics lights are bright, responsive, and completely waterproof (internal components are epoxy-coated and therefore waterproof even in saltwater). With LED technology improving all the time and a true lifetime warranty that the manufacturer stands behind, I whole-heartedly recommend the Optronics LED trailer lights.

The lights themselves in this kit are fine; they feel a little thin and lightweight, but they have bright LEDs and are a nice complement to my total trailer re-furb. However, I found out that I would have been better off just buying the lights individually and getting a separate wiring harness. The wiring that came with this is about the same gauge as sewing thread, and the connectors are some kind of horrible misshapen Chinese rubber. To add insult to injury, the white ground wire on the trailer side is about 12 long. SERIOUSLY? That wont even reach the trailer tongue! I was about to send the whole mess back but just decided to order a separate wiring harness. The Wesbar harness has a nice hard plastic molded connector and is made out of 18 ga wire. It cost me an additional $13 or so but it was necessary to make this install successful.

I love these lights. I have bought 4 sets now and will keep buying them until i learn how to drive and stop smashing them. My flatbed trailer has a really annoyingly low mount for the lights and will get taken out if backed over a curb or even when pulling out of a steep driveway to road transition. I actually keep a spare set in my truck when i tow the trailer because i drove back from LA with no lights on one occasion. Not a gripe about the lights in any way, just the location on my trailer that smashes them between the frame and the ground. I even lost a light over a speed bump once. I need to re-weld the light mounts in a better location... Anyways, enough bitching about my flatbed trailer. The lights are super bright and are LED so they draw nearly no load. The left light has a license plate light to keep you in compliance with the law if you mount your plate under the light. I dont, but thats my problem. I cant really comment about their long term lifespan, the longest i have had a set is 2 years now before i broke the mounting bolts out the back. The light still worked perfectly, it was just dangling by the wires. I should also note that the current set on my flatbed are directly in the spray of the tires and both housings are broken and exposed. I expected them to stop working the first rainstorm i drove through, but that was about a year ago and they are still working perfectly. So all in all, i love these lights. Just dont rest a 4000 lb trailer on them and expect them not to break.

Nice quality lighting kit, although they could throw in some LED markers for the front of the trailer to round out the kit. Only issue was I have a 2000 Ranger and the factory connector would not fit the trailer side connector in the kit. Not a big deal since the kit includes a newer style vehicle side connector and the connector on my 2008 Tacoma fit fine. The really nice thing about the kit is the wiring at the lights are not terminated through those cheap quick connects you find in the low end light sets that are almost always giving you grief. *UPDATE* Since my original purchase in 2009 these lights have given me no problems whatsoever. Still work each and every time I hook up the trailer. The original cheapo set that came on the trailer had to be jacked around with something like 2 or 3 times out of 10 hookups. Almost 4 years later and STILL completely satisfied with this purchase!

Bought these to replace existing trailer lights on a freshwater boat trailer based on the good reviews. Only had them on a few days so far. The lights work great and are brighter than the old incandescent bulbs, but I was surprised to see that the housing of the lights is not actually sealed or waterproof. The space around where the wires come out leaves quite a bit of room for water to seep in when submersed and Im afraid there is no way for the water to then drain out, as the hole for the wires is near the top of the housing. So while the LED bulbs may be able to sustain the water submersion better than the incandescent ones, Im still afraid the water will cause the metal components to corrode over time. Im actually thinking about drilling a hole in the bottom of the lights to allow water to drain out. I thought these lights were waterproof meaning that water would not get into the housing but that is not the case.
