The outside pockets are just the right depth at 4.5 to hold small items like hang tags, paperclips, business cards, etc. The outside dimensions are 12.5 long x 5.5 wide x 8.5 tall. Great bag! Cute product. Does its job. Wouldnt recommend for lots of books as its hard to carrry around. This exact product is available at michaels for 60% less and you can use a coupon on top of that. They even have a bulk package for even less per piece. So get this for sure, but if you can, save money buy getting it through a different vendor.
