I have had this product for a year now. (It was needed to replace the original cord that came with my laptop after I bent it with my car door. Oops.) I never had trouble with the original, but this thing?!?!?? It looks genuine, but I cant help but wonder if it really is a Dell product. The cord comes in two sections, one plugs in the wall, one into my laptop, and they connect together in the middle. The middle connection is very poorly fitted. It slips right out without any effort. All I have to do is bump the cord for it to stop working. The laptop LOOKS like it is plugged in properly but all of a sudden I get a low battery message on my screen. Then I fiddle with the cord to get it in just the right position before it will charge again. The scary part is that while I am fiddling with the cord, my living room light is flickering! Is this thing a fire hazard?!?!? Is it causing power surges in my house? Besides being possibly dangerous, it is frustratingly undependable. Imagine thinking your laptop was charging all night only to leave your house with a dead battery in your device. I would strongly suggest you pay the extra money and get a real one directly from Dell.

I received the charger very quickly and it was very good quality however, even though all the serial numbers were the same as my existing charger, I made the mistake of not measuring the adapter plug. I ended up with charger that didnt work for my computer. Totally my error.

After a few weeks, the charger didnt seem to be charging anymore. I bought the charger for my elderly mom. We thought its failure to charge was the battery, so I bought her a new battery. The battery still wouldnt charge. I had an old charger for another Dell computer that worked with this computer, so I thought why not try? I plugged it in and that old charger charged the new and old battery. Unfortunately, Im one week outside the return window, so Im stuck with this charger that doesnt work. Dont but this charger!

I am quite comforted to know that my computer is receiving a strong enough charge amperage. For some time I noted my PC loosing its charge very rapidly, a major decrease in unpluged running time. The situation was so bad it was virtually impossible to accomplish virtually nothing, just startups and shut downs and even that was difficult at times.Purchase of this original Dell AC Adapter for my Inspiron 15R is exactly what I needed!
