**edit 2** Im pleased to be able to update my review. Pace has been in constant contact since I finally reached someone via the aforementioned forum. The customer service has been miles beyond what I expected. They took care of my issue very quickly once I finally reached the right person. It seems I had some defective items. Thank you so much! *edit* I finally got a hold of someone from pace on the eev blog forum. Hes working with me to figure out what is wrong. Ill update this if they make it right */edit* Absolute garbage. I bought this to replace an aging hakko 935 which I had used for almost 20 years. It still works fine, I was just hoping this Pace unit would have a little bit better thermal performance. It doesnt. What Im really steamed about is the fact that I bought this less than 3 months ago and last week it had the tip I use most of the time go open. I thought this was a bit odd. Ive never had a hakko cartridge go open. Ive had to replace tips due to plating going bad, but literally twice in almost 20 years. So, I wrote Pace an email asking if this might be defective, or if this is what I should expect. Of course, they couldnt take time out of their busy schedule to reply. Well, today the second tip went open. This one has probably only been used a few hours total. So, since they cant bother to tell me if there is something wrong with the unit, I guess Ill contact Amazon to see if I can return it. This is ridiculous.

I have owned several digital soldering stations, a couple of Weller stations, an old RadioShack (that is still in operation mind you), and one Hakko station, this iron is hands down the very best soldering iron/station I have ever owned. Given the quality of build and A+ customer service, this will be the last iron I own as well. Simple controls, very comfortable wand with a more-than-long enough cord, super easy to change tips/cartridges, and the seemingly split-second heat-up/re-heat times are just a few of the lengthy list of benefits this station offers. I honestly dont know how I got along without this iron. Granted, the price tag is a bit hefty but you absolutely get what you pay for with this iron. I know that this sounds as if Im gushing, that is because I am. If you are looking for a well built, production grade, PRO-if-there-ever-was-a-PRO model soldering station, you have found it.

The seller claimed the kit included tips. This was not the case, However Pace sent me new tips. I like the product but dont recommend the seller

A little bulkier than it probably needs to be but other than that this thing is great.

this is my first professional soldering iron and WOW this thing is amazing. very accurate heat and will heat up to 700 degrees in less then 10 sec. change a tip on the go and in 10sec ready to go with different tip. Thermal recovery is exceptional just a very small dip in temp even when cleaning the tip on a moist sponge.

The best soldering equipment I have used. I have used many units in my line of work as an electronics technician (24 years) and the PACE units were always the best. This is better than any of the past units I have used. The price of this set is great and it works so well. I use it at home for HO scale model trains and other small electronic repairs.

Use the higher end pro unit at work so thought id try the “lighter” version for home. Great decision. Heats fast and very stable temp! Super happy with purchase.
