> 24 hourI have very dry skin and it is made worse when I shave. Flakes of skin would fall from my face throughout the day after a bad shave. A while back when I got on a straight razor kick, I used shaving creams, soaps, butters and oils. I used a high quality badger hair brush to properly lather the shave soaps. I kept the lather warm and moist. I have done everything one should do to give these products a fair try. I tested products for slickness/friction, how long the lather lasted, and how well it left my face moisturized and free from razor burn. Here are SOME of the notable ones Ive tried. -Gillete, Edge, Barbasol, and Walmart generic shaving cream (dries out my face; is not slick enough) -Nivea shaving gel/foam -Cremo Shave Cream -Shave King shaving oil (wasnt impressed) -Headblade HeadSlick Shave cream -Van Der Hagen Shave Butter -Col Conk Shave Soap (terrible!; left my face so dry. Glycerin based soaps dry my skin terribly) -Taylor of Old Bond Street Cream and also their Soap (The sandalwood smells so good) -D.R Harris & Co. Shave Soap (The Arlington is by far my favorite fragrance; man it smells so good! It is also 2nd or 3rd best product I tested) -Poraso Sensitive (it was an awesome product--one of the best--but I only used it once so dont know where it stands) -Mitchells Wool Fat Shave Soap (some people swear by it; I got it to lather fine (which is difficult for some people), but it was only so-so) -I Coloniali Shaving Cream (has mango oil, comes in a neat terracotta container. Actually worked really well; had a bad after-smell you could taste) -Truefitt & Hill Luxury Shaving Soap (crazy expensive, the most expensive one I tried, commissioned by the Queen of England; BUT, it wasnt that great! Goes to show higher cost does not mean a better product. This is a very hard, long-lasting soap...probably triple milled) -Tabac Original (good lather, underperforming moisturizer) -Arko Shaving Stick (very good, classic smell) -La Toja Shaving Stick (perhaps the least expensive soap ... not the best smell, but theres no denying it is #2 or 3 in terms of how it made my face feel after; its supposed to use the minerals from some famous spring in Spain) And the winner: The best product--in terms of how it left my face feeling--is one that is so far above the rest that although it is almost unbelievable, I cannot deny how superior this product is. It is a cheap little bottle of shaving oil you can buy at any Walmart called Shave Secret. What? you say. No, its true. This little bottle of proprietary oil works like nobodys business. And Ive been using it for over 10 years. Some people wont like that it can gum up their razor blade (which doesnt actually affect the quality of your shave, by the way); some might not like the menthol/clove smell; some might scoff that it just looks cheap ... but it is absolutely the best product Ive tried. One of the very few that keeps my dry skin moist and never EVER leaves me with razor burn (unless I shave very quickly without letting my beard get moist heat). I shave in the shower, and because there is no lather covering my beard, I dont need a mirror. I just feel if there is any more stubble. I cant cut myself or cause razor burn with this stuff. I could shave the same spot 10 times if I wanted to and it wouldnt hurt my face. I always shave against the grain and never have any problems. I use those Gillette 5-razor monstrosities because as much as I hate the cost, the additional surface area of so many blades is kinder to my sensitive skin. The instructions say you can use it with an electric razor (I would only due this with one of those shower-friendly ones). Shave King Shave Oil looks similar but it is noticeably inferior. Shave Secret is by far my favorite.

> 24 hourThis product was recommended to my husband. He decided to try it, and he liked it so much he has continued to use it for several years. He needed something that wouldn’t dry his skin and felt good on it. This did those things!
