Philos Ass Altenburger 22570071 – Card Game Rummy in Barrel Deck

These are the cards I grew up playing with that my mother brought in Germany 50 years ago. She was SO tickled to see them.

These cards are a traditional German deck, great quality for a great price.

These cards are of good quality card stock. They have a slick finish (not textured). It’s a nice change to play with something other than a standard deck.

Anyone that has played German Romme know that these cards are the real deal. Very good quality and color seems to last. I just ordered 3 more packs, because we play religiously.

These cards are of the Berlin Pattern my mothers deck had back in the early 70s (which is a printing that go back at least to 1958). The depictions I believe are a very close rendering of her deck; although, I feel this modern printing has slightly more of a cartoonish/less real replication of the antique deck that my memory serves me. But I could see that was the case when I bought these, so Im not disappointed. I like the uniqueness of the German deck with D for queen (die Dame? or Lady) and B for jack (die Begleitung? The escort/guard). The deck is typical of the 4 suite, AKQJ, 10-2 playing card deck, just with a unique European style of face cards and 3 jokers per deck. Im glad they still print this style; though, I think it would be even better if Ass Altenburger reproduced the exact 1958-1971 style deck where the face cards seem more real.

The package arrived in good condition. The cards are of high quality. I am very happy about this purchase.
