> 3 dayMy very old movie projector weighed a ton. It was big and bulky and a pain to store, then pull out to use. I have replaced the bulb several times. Its capabilities were limited. Let’s say none! Time to get a new projector and recycle the old one. There are many candidates on the market. I did some basic research using simple criteria. The unit had to be small, lightweight, modern to handle new video formats, and have multiple input sources. At a minimum it had to provide for HDMI, AV, USB, and some form of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth. Quality sound was also important. After some looking, I chose the Mooka Movie Projector. I was attracted to its wide range of capabilities in a small footprint and lightweight. An attractive, functional carrying case and remote control are included. Since my old projector screen was broken, I used a white wall to check out the unit. So, some of the pics might not be as sharp as if I used a real screen. And yes, the room should be dark. Setup was easy. It has an adjustable foot. The menu is easy to understand but I did need to use the user manual for some options and instructions. I tried several methods to connect to the projector. First, I connected my DVD player via HDMI. I only needed to adjust the focus and select HDMI as a source. And the movie played. Next, I used my iPhone with Airplay. I tried connecting both through my router and without my router. It took me a little while to figure out the screen mirroring. But both methods worked well, and I was able to display pictures and videos. One nice feature is that the unit has a powered USB OUT 5v jack. So, I was able to power my iPhone while playing the video. I was surprised by the quality of the sound for small speakers. I most likely will attach the unit to my sound bar via the phone jack. At first, I had some difficulty using a USB thumb drive. We are doing a 35 mm slide conversion project, converting the film to JPG images. My drive had several new images and I decided to try the projector. I was unable to view the drive contents. My drive was in ExFAT format, and the projector could not read it. Once I converted to FAT32, it worked great. Overall, this is a great little unit. It has multiple input sources, can display many densities (up to 1920x1080), and has a sharp picture. The sound quality is very good for a small unit. Most important to me is the ability to stream off my iPhone. Great value. I need to go buy a new screen!
