> 24 hourOn its own, it gets out clean audio to other drivers. I have been asked several times by professional truck drivers what I was talking on as it was loud and clear. I did crack open the microphone and disabled the built in channel up down buttons. Mic would change channel often when I put it in my cup holder. The radio has an undocumented hidden menu that lets you adjust modulation and output power. I dropped mine to two watts and and set modulation to highest then sent output to a Little Italy KL-203. Getting 5 miles on a two foot firestick car to car and every now and then able to shoot skip. Set power to 110 in hidden menu and 50 for modulation.

> 24 hourMy search is over!!! I was in search for a feature rich CB with great performance in the smallest setup possible. At least once a year, I take a road trip of >3k miles, and CB is great for situational awareness. In particular ch19 & NOAA weather channels. While it is not as popular as it used to be, I still find great value in having one in each vehicle. This radio has AM & FM modes, & NOAA S.A.M.E. alerts. Today it went off twice due to tornado watch & flood warnings. The AM-CB TX/RX seems to be a little better than my Uniden 980SSB. On WX it picks up 3 stations as opposed to my SSB980 only finds 2. The ASC feature is nice, but with no RF gain (booooo) it stays open past S5 regardless of SNR. Overall, the ASC does have a hard time differentiating between a good signal and noise. The only 2 things I dont like is the absence of an RF gain knob & SWR readings. Drop the USB charging, and put an RF gain knob there instead. I mean who doesnt already have a gazillion USB charging ports? The only time I could see this charging port being helpful is if you mount it on something without any USB ports like a Motorcycle, buggy, or ATV. They included an awesome quick release bracket, in addition to the included traditional tilt bracket, a great option for your super fun exposed rides or easy removal for anti-theft. My first go with this radio is as a base station. 13.8VDC PSU by TekPower, LMR400 cabling by MPD Digital, and a Super Penetrator antenna. Superb results. I will be moving to to my 17 F-150 soon. I wanted to try it out first before making mounting holes all over. After learning all of the features mentioned in the manual, and an hour of testing (in which 2 WX alerts came in) I am ready to make holes, for its next home, in my truck. I highly recommend this radio to everyone. Are there better radio out there? Yes, but you wont find the performance and features so cleverly packed into such a small CB anywhere else.
