This check valve is used for removing flood water. It worked when first installed, kept the water in the hose from flooding the basin. After it sat for a few days, when the pump came on again, the flapper wouldnt open to pass water. Pump works just fine with check valve removed. I removed the check valve and cleaned the seal surface, it worked next time but when it sat for a few days, flapper wouldnt open next time it was needed. Not reliable at all if you depend on it not letting water return to the basin then emptying the basin when needed.

Installed same day received. 10 minutes max. Length is a bit shorter than old valve so I had to modify the pit a little. But wow, the difference is surprising. Noise eliminated. Love this thing. Ordering 2 more. (Note: I use a thumper valve on the backup sump so I’ll know when the main has failed) Seriously quiet.

My 35 years old well pump and plumbing has seen many component replacements. My most troublesome component has been the check-valve. Up until now I had used brass valves with spring loaded axial shutoffs and each one had a disappointing short useful life. This valve has a flapper shutoff which I truly believe will outlast all the others. Time will tell, of course, but this design is simple, old, and proven. The installation was a breeze and the buna-n rubber couplings did not leak one drop.

These check valves come with 1/2” couplers where most others come with 1/2” to 1/4” as the valve is only 1/4”. This should easily fit onto an existing system with 1/2” pipes. They are very quite compared to traditional check valves. I will update this review if they become noisy or break/leak.

We had the worst banging on our sump pump pipes and just like that they are gone the minute I installed this check valve. Amazing!
