I asked to make sure it was received before St. Patricks Day. Got it early. Thanks!

These are the cheaper of wheels but they have the same great value. Buy these and you wont regret it.

The wheels seem very nice. I skate outdoors and this aren’t as soft and jelly-like as some other wheels that I have. Not a problem though these are what I was looking for just something worth note if you’re looking for a softer wheel. These do not come with bearings and only come in a 4 pack. Originally the item said it was in and 8 pack when I purchased it. This wouldn’t be too big of a problem, just would have been nice to know so that way I could have ordered it all at the same time. They have a very nice sleek look to them, and I found it extremely easy to put the bearings in with some WD-40. Usually I have a hard time with the bearings but it wasn’t a problem with these.

Im writing this review because I wish someone had saved me from buying these wheels a month ago with my new Riedell skates. I thought that if they were offered as an option by Riedell, then they would be a good quality item. I was wrong to think that. Riedell, I love you, but sorry, this is the truth. I went back and forth between giving these a 1 star and giving them a 2 star. I went with 2 because it does seem like they are going to hold up well over time (although I wont know for sure because Im not planning to keep using them). However, the performance is just NOT good at all. Your skating experience will suffer on these wheels. Pros: ⁃ Can skate ok on a variety of outdoor surfaces as advertised - concrete and asphalt as long as there arent a lot of big bumps/cracks/rough spots ⁃ Seem to be holding up fine as I skate on them ⁃ Cheap to buy and to replace Cons: ⁃ These wheels dont handle slight changes in roughness of the ground very well, so unless your outdoor skating surface is pretty smooth and very consistent (most arent unless its an outdoor rink), when you run over a small bump or rough patch you will feel like youre going to fall (or you might just fall!). ⁃ These wheels have no hub. I think thats the biggest issue with their performance. The hub area is made of the same 85A urethane. So because it is soft, it doesnt react quickly at all. This means when you want to make a slight turn, the wheels want to keep going the other way. Youll feel unstable and it isnt easy to curve. Crossovers or anything more advanced is pretty much out of the question due to such slow reaction time. So really all you can do in these wheels is skate in a straight line. You will feel badly about your skills when you skate in these wheels. But it isnt you, its the wheels. Dont let these wheels make you want to quit skating because you think youre just really bad at it! It isnt you, its the wheels. ⁃ For 62 inch wheels, they feel slooooooow and heavy. It takes a lot of effort to build up any speed, and it feels like you have 8 weights dragging you down. Im going to try Radar Energy or Moxi Gummi wheels next as Ive been advised that they will be an improvement. Ive actually been told they will feel like skating on mini trampolines or clouds compared to these! Ill update this review when I try them.

Writing this review as a beginner roller skater who hasn’t tried many wheels yet. I bought these to replace the wide derby wheels that came stock with my skates. Been skating with them daily for a month. The Zen Sonars are a decent wheel at a good price. Best surface is smooth concrete. They perform pretty good on the brushed finish concrete at my local park as well. Small gravel & small twigs aren’t really an issue but things get gnarly with bigger debris. I don’t like them on rough asphalt or the wide gaps on my local sidewalks. I don’t have great cushions on my skates so better cushions may help assist the wheels with less vibration, more smoothness on those surfaces. They seem very durable. I do wonder how a softer 78a wheel would perform outside compared to these hybrid wheels.

Once you break them in, you are good to go. Love the fact that I can use them indoors and outdoors.

The color of the magenta wheels was super vibrant. The wheels are great for outdoors and potentially could be used indoors fr beginners who want more grip. If you weigh over 160lbs, the 78a gummy wheels are actually not the best for you. They will squish down quite a bit under that much weight. I would suggest 78a wheels for teens or light weight adults. The 85a will still absorb a lot from the streets, but wont have as much friction as a 78a. I find 78a wheels almost impossible to use on asphalt or tennis courts as it feels like Im skating through mud. I actually prefer a 94a for outdoor but these 85A will be pretty perfect for most people. *skates in image are suregrip boardwalks, size 4, with powerdyne fuse plates and gumball stops.
