Use Golden Yellow and Royal Blue - and have for years - so easy to do - 3 5 gallon buckets - hot water to wet clothes - hot water to die - warm to rinse - bring pot of water to boil to dissolve dye with 1 cup salt and 1 tb dish detergent - add to hot water bath. 1. clothing 2. put in dye bath wearing rubber gloves - color will take immediately - leave it in for 5 or 10 or longer - rinse in warm water bucket. Very easy - nice color you do not see enough. Very easy to do.

Description on amazon says All purpose, easy-to-use dye can be safely used to color almost all fabrics as well as wood, wicker, paper and plastic. Back of the box (which is not pictured on amazon; Ive included photo) says: Not recommended for 100% polyester, acrylic, acetate, fiberglass or metallic fibers, or fabrics with special finishes, rubber backing, washable only in cold water or labeled Dry Clean Only. While it would be reasonable to assume this might not work on fiberglass, metallic fibers, or special finishes, it is extremely misleading to say the dye will work on almost all fabrics when it is not recommended for such common fabrics as polyester, acrylic, acetate, or those items that are washable only in cold water or dry clean only. I bought this specifically to dye a polyester item, so it looks like this wont work for my purposes.

I bought powder as well as liquid versions and used them on similar white cotton jeans. I think that powder worked faster. However, I kept both pairs of jeans in the hot bath for 24 hours just in case, and the final effects were the same. BTW stitches were polyester, so I had to get a bottle of DyeMore anyway.

The directions on how to use the RIT Dye was quite small. But other than that the color was what we were looking for
